And they are comedy gold with their predictions.

Spoilers ahead!

I perused Lindy’s (the best for reading about ever player), Athlon (okay) and Street and Smiths.

All predict NE to lose to none only than the choke artists they call the Los Angeles Chargers in either the divisional or AFCCG....AT HOME! It’s amazing how much a team and QB (Phillip Rivers) can fail, yet be picked to go to the Super Bowl year in and year out.

AFC picks are either Chiefs or Chargers.

The popular picks out of the NFC are the Saints and Bears. I don’t get the Bears at all as they got exposed in the playoffs. Make Trubisky throw and it’s all over.

One interesting tidbit in Lindy’s Magazine is that they mentioned Michael Bennett as an upgrade over Trey Flowers. The other two magazines had high praise for Flowers as one ranked him number 7-8 in the top 10 DE’s.

Hightower was a top 3 LB in one magazine.

Gilmore was the top CB.

McCourty top 3 FS.

Pats RB’s are ranked low which is ridiculous.

I always buy Lindy's pre-season mag. Quick notes on every vet/drafted rookie on every roster, and on every draft pick. I don't know if they ship out updated versions during the off-season in case of trades/signings/etc (probably not unfortunately), but I still don't make a purchase until after the July 4th week, just in case.

I could have told you these predictions without even reading the magazines. So obvious jumping on the trendy picks. I don't think the Bears will make the playoffs again so long as Falsebisky is the QB.

I just try to look at good value bets. Here's what I like:

MVP Odds
Jimmy Garoppolo 40:1
Matt Ryan 30:1

NFL MVP Odds to Win, 2019 Futures Betting Lines | Online Vegas Odds NFL MVP

Super Bowl Winner Odds (would probably hedge if team gets to conference title game)
Seattle Seahawks 40:1
Atlanta Falcons 30:1
San Francisco 49ers 30:1
Pittsburgh Steelers 25:1

Sports Betting News and Vegas Odds

Give me Ryan, Garopollo, Roethlisberger, and Wilson all with those long odds. Can't imagine you won't see at least one of those teams ride their QB pretty far. Also, I loathe the Steelers but love their value in the books this year. This is a perennial contender (or at least, a perennial playoff team) who had a "down year" at 9-6-1, took out some garbage attitudes, and still have that great offensive line, Smith-Schuster (who in my estimation has surpassed an aging, declining AB), and Conner (who in my estimation is likely better than Bell, due to his age alone, plus I prefer running style and usage rate.)

Used to buy the mags, but now with the internet can get most of the info for free... it is nice for all the info to be condensed.

Not surprised since KC is going to be a popular pick. They’ve added some pieces on defense, too. I can appreciate those who pick the LAC, too. Both of these are popular picks.

Great for the toilet. People that write such things do so to sell them. The product is more appealing to more people if it picks someone other than the Patriots to win.

SF will be lucky to go over 8-8. Agree on the Steelers as nice value bet with hedging potential though.

Those mags wouldn't sell 100 copies if they picked the Pats to win. There's no value in doing so for them. Once that corruption sets in, they become clickbait.

I haven’t bought a preview mag in a hot minute.

They always attempted to be unconventional in any way possible so it doesn’t surprise me.

LAC won't even win the division much less be in the AFCCG or SB.

The Chargers were the big preseason pick last year too. It seems every preseason, the media is hot on the Chargers.

Most of the time, these preseason publications never pick either team in the Super Bowl.

I stopped buying those magazines in.....maybe the late 90's....

The last magazine I bought was a FFL preview magazine in 2013..which I still have. I read it every year to remind myself that predictions made in those magazines (or in the media) are largely worthless.......and that I actually make better predictions...

Surprised it isn't Patriots vs Packers... I swear that is picked every single year.

They don’t.

If they stay healthy, they should have a winning record.

The irony is, out here in LA, most of the media knows they can’t hold the Pats jock strap. There’s of course some idiots that think it’s the Chargers but they’re the minority.

My last magazine was 2002. They were gold pre internet days.

They’ve added some pieces on defense, too.
Aside from Frank Clark, they are worse on D.

Yeah, I stopped reading when they quit having the women take their clothes off, too.

To be fair, I’d love to see that.
We would’ve seen it in the 2014 SB, but Seattle recovered that crazy onside kick in the NFCCG, and I’m glad that they did.

I remember that Colts were the hot pick in these magazines to get to the Super Bowl from 2014-17ish.
