Jets Suck -- 2019 Edition (Official): Entering A New Half-Century of Moronic Mediocrity!

I find myself taken aback. It's so unlike the Jete to consider hiring such a top-level, brilliant NFL mind as Todd McShay. This could really be the hire that turns the tide for them and vaults them into instant contention.

The thing is, you really can't blame these TV guys for taking these jobs. No matter how you do, your money's guaranteed, and when you get fired, you can always go back to TV because of your name recognition.

Yep, and when you come back you can call yourself an "insider", another thing the media made up to try to give itself an air of importance.

I wouldn't blame McShay one bit for taking the job. I just think he doesn't know much about football. Which makes him perfect for the Jete.

Oops.

I could mention that McShay probably would not have drafted Tavon the ER Wilson & Jake the Fake Bequette in the 2nd & 3rd rounds in 2012, only to double-double-down with Glitch Richards & GeeNo Gruesome just 3 years later...but because this is the Jete Suck thread, I won't.

I look at this roster, I look at this coaching staff, I look at this front office, and I look at this owner and you know what, I believe that this is the year we take a bold step. Not next year. This year.

Call me crazy, but I think the Patriots are there for the taking right now. And I think that for whatever reason, the Jets as a franchise responds to change better than any organization in the NFL, each time we get a new coach and a new culture it creates a spark and pushes this team beyond its limits. Experienced head coach, Darnold in Year 2, big-play offense, Bell ripping easy yardage on swing passes, Adams and Mosely killing it on D under Williams' psychotic direction, excellent special teams, and a favorable schedule.

We need to get off to a strong start, 4-1 looks doable leading to a Week 7 showdown at home against the Patriots in a fired-up MetLife Stadium on the highest rated MNF broadcast in decades. Patriots take a step back, Jets take a step up, we win the Division at 11-5 on tiebreakers, hats and t-shirts for everyone.

SAR I

Clockwise from left:

QB with the worst INT % in the NFL and among worst starting QB rating.

Laughingstock head coach who was recently run out of town with another loser franchise.

Epic back-stabbing drama queen looking to throw said head coach under the bus.

Guy who scored 11 on Wonderlic and almost got sued by a mascot.

Joke idiot RB who just got robbed of over 500K in jewelry and who just held out an entire season to make less money (and the coach hates him.)

Some fat loser.

A worthless playboy who has made the team a bigger laughingstock than they were with his worthless playboy brother.

Middle linebacker who is paid $5M more than any other middle linebacker in football (roughly 50%) despite not being a generational player.

I think Joe Douglas- new Jets GM, has a chance to be decent. He was mentored by Ozzie Newsome (who was mentored by BB) and worked for good GMs like Pace in CHI (who has also done a good job there) and most recently for Howie Roseman in Philly.

With that said hes never led and organization and works for a clueless, idiot of an owner.

The Jets are still the Jets. 3-13 more likely than winning the division.

The only thing keeping them out of the AFC East cellar is Josh Allen. It will take them 2 years to win 10 games.
The only thing keeping them out of the AFCE cellar are the Doofins.

Pats
Billiards
Jete
Doofins

"Culture beats strategy" is right out of a best selling leadership book. It's correct in business (with the right culture, you can do strategy and implement it; with the wrong culture, the best strategy isn't worth sh*t). But for a pro football assistant coach, that's just mind numbingly foolish.

Sam Darnold has received a lot of compliments over the past year-plus.

He hasn’t gotten one like this.

Jets wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson has clearly been in awe of the 22-year-old quarterback – and he won’t bother to pretend otherwise.

“Excuse my French when I say say this, but he’s a f------ dude,” Jefferson said. “He’s a f------ dude with a f------ arm and he’s accurate as s---. So excuse that."

Well, OK then.

Obviously, that’s an emphatic endorsement of Darnold’s skillset. But what exactly is it that’s wowed Jefferson so much in their few months together?

“It’s everything," Jefferson said. “The way that he works – he’s here early in the morning, he stays after, he probably doesn’t leave this building until six, seven at night. He’s in the old quarterback room. I’ve been so impressed with this kids work ethic and the way he attacks everything.

"It’s just been awesome to see a young kid like that. It’s almost like he’s been here before. He’s a young guy, but he has a lot of veteran attributes to him.”

Jefferson said that feeling has been contagious around his wide receivers. The level of trust between Darnold and his targets exists in large measure because they know he’s legit – even if he’s still a work in project at age 22.

“I haven’t been around a guy like that and it’s awesome to be around a guy like that,” Jefferson added. “He’s a dude."

Jets’ Sam Darnold will never get a better (or more profane) compliment than this

That's why Rhodes Scholars like Greg Williams & Buddy Ryan will always be Failures as Head Coaches and leaders of men.
