McCoy should sign for a cool mil. It's a lot of money if you think about it.

He’s looking for $13M??? It was nice while it lasted...

Cowart is fighting against Parry/Butler/Shelton.

I'm not sure of that. I thought Cowart is more of an undersized speed and quickness DT, which would put him more in competition with Adam Butler than Parry and Shelton.

Maybe for playing time, but I do think in terms of a spot on the roster those are the guys he's competing with. His ability to back up Butler while the others may not be able to could help him make the team.
If only Butler & Cowart make the 53 with Guy & Pennel, then who backs up Pennel?

Shelton will be the fighting for snaps with Pennel and Guy in the regular D and GL/short yardage D. Cowart and Butler will vie for 3rd down and passing situation snaps. Will the Pats keep 5 DT's?

Dunno. 2018 was Guy, Brown, Butler, Shelton (plus a few Kamalu snaps). If Pennel is Brown's replacement (in terms of snaps, if not role), then the question is whether you keep Shelton (a 3rd big type) or Cowart (a 2nd small type). Which is more important? Alternatively, you could keep a 5th DT at the expense of another position.

I still consider Guy more of a natural 3-tech than a 0/1-tech DT like Pennel, who weighed 332 at the 2014 combine, whereas Guy weighed 305 at the 2011 combine. My Big DT depth chart therefore reads Pennel, Shelton & Parry, while my Not as Big one reads Guy, Butler, Cowart & Kamala. If Shelton enters camp in good (for him) shape & gives it everything he has on the field, then I believe he has a very, very good chance of making the 53 as Pennel's primary backup. Butler & Cowart appear to be vying for the primary 3-tech backup behind Guy.

Why would McCoy even consider visiting the Ravens?

Just skip all these meetings an sign with the Pats already!

Makes sense. For what it's worth, I'd keep Guy, Pennel, Butler, and Shelton, but it's definitely hard to cut Cowart.

Not happening
You’re probably right. 99.9% of the time players take money over the chance of winning. Anytime a player says “I want to win” they are full of s**t.

How do you think Michael Bennett would feel making less than McCoy.
I don’t think he’d mind that much because of his age. Bennett is not in a position to command top dollar.

It's always about the money. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't been paying attention to the economics of the NFL. Brady, albeit paid handsomely, is an exception to the rule.

As long as QB’s keep getting paid these record setting contracts, it will allow the Pats a better to continue racking up Lombardi’s as long as Brady and BB are there. I’m quite shocked more QB’s haven’t followed Brady given they want to “win” so much.

It's because players equate money with respect. Minnesota is paying Kirk Cousins 30 million a year and he's lucky to be a middle of the road player.

There is overlap to get paid and go to a contender. If I were a player looking at 10 mil my list of contenders would be pretty long. Realistically for that kind of money there are only a few teams I wouldn't convince myself are contenders and even then if ones I do consider contenders pay significantly less then call me a liar for ever saying contender.

If I were getting offered deals that were millions of dollars different then an 8-8 team with any semblance of a QB add in my talent suddenly seems like a contender. Instead of walking away from that $ you convince yourself instead of going to a no doubt contender.
