That illegal pick play though

You mean like this? @ 3:34

Also, I'm really not disagreeing with your points, either. It's just that that same points must be applied to the slant that KC called to pick JC Jackson, too. KC rant a slant. The WR didn't alter anything. He didn't throw a block, either. WRs get away with worse, like the above video.^

The KC play was a blatant block with no disguise of a route. It was not even in the vicinity of the 1 yard legal zone.
I think you are missing the difference between running a route in the path of where the defender wants to go and running into the defender and throwing a block.
Look at it like a charge in basketball.

Ok Cool, so just to put this in perspective; you're saying the KC pick-play was not much different than the video I just posted? (re-posted below, again @ 3:34)

Because that's all I'm really arguing. If you want to say both these plays should be flagged. Ok. I won't argue. But I simply think it doesn't happen very often & teams will usually get away with it. That's entirely why I think the KC pick play wasn't nearly as egregious of a non-call as others think.

No I think the chief play was probably much worse. I say probably because it’s hard to see if the OSU receiver actually made contact.
But there is a big difference between slapping a hand on a guy as he goes by and literally throwing a block. That chief receiver literally blocked like it was a running play. It was as egregious as it gets imo.

Just saying; the OSU WR does indeed make contact. Watch it in full screen. You even see the defender stumble and visibly try to keep from falling. That's more than just hand slapping. And he visibly alters his route to do this, too.

Now, the KC pick was more physical; but I don't think the difference is all that great. Refs let it slide.

And again, just to re-iterate my point on how common it is: I stumbled onto this OSU play on You Tube after simply typing "mesh wheel" (or something like that) and watching a few linked videos of concept breakdowns. That's all. That's how common these plays are. That's why I don't think the KC non-call was all that bad.

Just a note in the greater context. I have checked out the AFC Championship Gameday threads on bunch of other teams boards. Some were for pure schadenfreude and others to see who they were rooting for (Broncos, Raiders, Chargers fans, for example.)

The notion that the Patriots were playing by one set of rules and the Chiefs another is a near universal theme throughout these threads and not limited to our biased perspective. Even people clearly rooting against the Patriots noted the laughable double standard from the refs when it came to pass interference, noting the Patriots receivers were being mugged on almost every pass with no whistle while the Chiefs were the beneficiary of some very ticky tack calls. That Dorsett TD before halftime was as blatant as the Saints-Rams game, though he caught the ball anyway despite being tackled in the process. The pick play was also noted, as the Patriots got an OPI called against them and other fanbases pointed out this was on obvious OPI.

The Patriots overcame massive home cooking to win this game. Almost all of the Chiefs TD drives involved either a key third down or a big chunk gain from a questionable penalty. The only bad call the Patriots got was extremely ticky tack (if not just phantom) roughing the passer, but at least in that case you could understand the ref got a bad angle on one of the most overly enforced penalties. The refs could not have missed these plays on the Chiefs and clearly caved to the homefield crowd on judgement calls.

Seeing this thread again when I'm not super drunk is reeeeeaaaallly weird

I guess the league needs this ref bias just to keep the Pats domination a bit tempered.
I mean can you imagine how many more SBs we'd win if they didn't .
