Come on, the ball already hit Cooks right hand in that picture. If Gilmore wasn't holding Cooks arm he uses both his hands to catch that. Now if he drops it after Harmon hits him, you can rightfully call him out. But not for how it currently happened.

The ball hit him right in the chest, he could have easily clutched it with his right arm and then used the other that just got free to fully secure it before Harmon arrived. I am sorry but no matter how much you want to defend him on this.. for me this is a drop.

Please watch the 1st replay shown on the broadcast of the Gilmore INT again, please watch it in real time. It's not possible for Cooks to body check Gilmore or whatever. Cooks put as much effort as possible to stop Gilmore with the little time he had to react.
...

Cooks was in good position to break up the INT by Howard. Howard pushed off. Hindsight is 20-20.

It is too late because he lacked the awareness to account for the defender. This is a running theme with him.

He is looking back at the ball at this point already:

And yet he still somehow runs by Gilmore who in contrast has perfectly anticipated the trajectory. This is followed by a half-assed attempt to correct for it by swinging his arm

This is exactly the same issue as with the Howard INT. He somehow is not able to anticipate the defender jumping in front of him and then gets to a point where momentum makes it impossible to do much.

Lack. Of. Awareness.

So you're angry with Cooks with his Super Bowl LII performance so you're going to **** on him for every little thing. Let it go man. He wasn't the only reason we lost that game.

I am not angry at all at Cooks. And I have never said he was the only reason that we lost the game so please dont move the goalposts on all of this. I have just given you examples where he screwed up on the big stage repeatedly which is something that was asked in this thread.

Would think at 3-4 more WR will find their way into Foxboro via various ways (draft, UDFAs, trade if something comes up).

That being said this is a pretty awesome deal for both sides.

Agree completely. There are always too expensive veteran cuts after the draft and they will bring in a bunch of them, just as they do pretty much every year. Then we see who sticks, last year the answer was “ no one.”

I did and it doesn't change my opinion at all.

Gilmore and Cooks both look at the ball almost at the same time. Cooks either never sees it or misjudges the trajectory severely, takes additional steps down the field and takes himself out of the play.

Was it a good throw? Nope, not even close but part of the job as receiver is to make sure that nobody gets the ball if you can't.

I’m sure he probably had a concussion or two here but Peyton’s slot guys will all end up in a rest home in 10 years. Brandon Stokely, Jerome Patton, Anthony Gonzalez, Austin Collie, Wes Welker and glorified slot receiver Dallas Clark all had multiple concussions playing with Peyton.

Manning regularly hung his receivers out to dry and basically ruined Austin Collies career before it could ever get started. So many ducks across the middle that allowed the defense to annihilate his receivers

Another part of Manning’s game that the media as a whole completely ignores

Joey Galloway, Tory Holt, Reggie Wayne, Chad Johnson...lots of name wide receivers the Pats have tried to bring it over the years, to little success. I think the problem with most of those guys is that they were just too long in the tooth, with Johnson I think being about the youngest at 33 and some of the other guys being like 37, 38 years old. Thomas is just 31 now, so if he recovers from that injury, and it looks promising, I think he’s got a good chance to stick.

That clip is certainly encouraging.....BUT he's clearly not at the point where he can make a full speed cut, or even do a quick start and stop. He's got 3.5 months to get there though, PLUS learn the offense and get in sync with Brady.

I wish the doctor had given us more, like given what he's seen in the clip, what would be a reasonable expectation for him to be back on the field practicing 2month's, 3month, 5 months, when

BTW- better than I expected at this stage. now is all about breaking down scar tissue to get back to full flexibility of the tendon.....or not

If Chao is correct with PUP I would not anticipate to see DT before the BYE.

I don’t think he is saying start the season on pup but rather start camp on pup

If someone stole half a million dollars, it would usually be a massive scandal, but in this context no one seems to care considering the amounts of money thrown around. But Reggie Wayne essentially bilked the Patriots out of that much money. Decided he didn’t want to put in the work and continue playing. How were they not able to recoup that signing bonus when a guy just fails to follow through on his commitment? He wasn’t injured.

Such a classic example of why Patriots are always better than the Colts. They are so soft and pampered in that organization.

I would expect that if the team expects DT to be ready to play for say game 4 or 5, then he will be on the 53, so that he can practice and be available. We would then carry Edelman, Harry, Dorsett and Inman (or Harris)on the 53, basically 4 plus a recovering DT.

Because that is not how they operate. A reputation to be fair with veterans even if they were not is more important in the long run than a few 100k of cap space. If this was a non trivial amount you would have seen the more ruthless side come out.

Coming back from an Achilles repair is no joke. It’s impressive that he can run after 4 mos. but from the looks of that video he’s not close to where he needs to be to get on the field.

If DT is a designated PUP candidate that means he cannot practice with the Team. Missing all of TC with Brady is not a possibility I'm entertaining. Really hope DT is a quick healer because timing with Brady matters. I was kinda excited about this signing at first but now I'm not so sure. Glad they Drafted the Rook - signed Inman and others.
