Patriots Sign Demaryius Thomas

I'd love to be wrong, but this really has a Reggie Wayne signing feel to it.

Not a chance I am sure Brady is breathing a lot easier now.

The achilles is a concern, but I'm more concerned about his drops. IIRC, they were higher than average.

From the sound of it Thomas is quick healer and is well ahead of schedule. Also Thomas is a lot better than that fool that choose Tennessee over us.

I still see 2 to 3 wrs brought it it's a wide open competition unless your name is squirrel.

Still a lot better than it was a week ago...now lets sign Chris Conley.:D

Over/under on # WRs Bill adds before the opener?

Would think at 3-4 more WR will find their way into Foxboro via various ways (draft, UDFAs, trade if something comes up).

That being said this is a pretty awesome deal for both sides.

Thomas is very consistent he could easily meet those parameters and I am confident mack.

I suspect his recovery is ahead of schedule and he will participate in a limited way in OTAs.

Seems like Bill learned his lesson from foolishly doling out $400k guaranteed to Reggie Wayne who didn't even be here long enough to find the nearest Dunkin Donuts.

Idk about better at this point but certainly cheaper.

The 2019 WR group has so many potential outcomes.

High-end example:

Gordon (returns)
Thomas (healthy)
Edelman
Brown/Isabella
Dorsett

Top 3-5 WR corps in football.

Low-end example:
Dorsett
Edelman
lower round rookie
???

Gordon (suspended)
Thomas (decline, doesn't recover to form prior to injury)

Not good.

Hopefully the team can get something in the middle.

What an awesome contract. Pretty sure a lot of that money will be NLTBE and therefore not on the cap this year.

EDIT: Saw a Field Yates tweet saying his cap hit will be about $2.9m.

Those are not incentives that a player would agree to if they anticipate starting on PUP and missing 6 games. Good sign.

Adam Humpries to date have never hit the 900yds plateau not to mention 1000 that's my point.

Not really sure there is a huge difference. DT got 150k as a signing bonus and another 150k for reporting. That is 300k right there that Wayne would have made given a similarly structured contract.

$100k or 25% less. If he can't report b/c of legal issue or injury then it's $200k less.

The structure is a string of carrots on a stick for him to chase.
