Pats should have won SB 46

Don't be too concerned, moss happens
But it’s usually only in forests on the north side of trees and rocks, it’s everywhere now and spreading. I was going to do a poll about possible solutions but realized I was infected and had to delouse myself inside and out with alcohol.

What are you talking about? We had the worst D of the decade that year. It was a miracle we got to the SB. Every game was a shoot out. I think we were ranked 31st in total yards and 32nd in average drive per yard. We couldn’t stop anyone. I never felt too bad about that loss. That team was lucky to get to the SB.
Pats should have smoked Giants in that game.

They were still a very good team. People just blow it off as a fluke because their defense was grotesque in the early going but they were the best team in the AFC, courtesy of a dominant passing game. Gronk's best season.

Terrible pass defense and coverage is always your down fall in the modern NFL. Getting to the SB was a big achievement.

I think the one regret Belichick will have when his career is done is that he didn't provide the 2010-2012 teams with good enough secondary play. That was our downfall.

The D played well enough in that game

No. Eli threw for 300 yards on 75% completion %.

While the offense should have won that game the margin for error with these terrible pass defenses is most often to thin.

13-16 points (real points. last TD was gimme) given up by the D. They did their job. Points against most important D stat.

In the 4th quarter Eli did whatever he wanted to do. That lost the game. That and the Pts offense stalling. Was it play calling or Brady getting hurt? I didn't expect to win that Super Bowl. I ticked off some people by throwing their blue "Giants" cupcakes off the 9th story balcony at my friends place downtown where we watched the game. They also brought "Pats" cupcakes in their defense. We kept and enjoyed those. Still a tough loss when the game was so close.

The downfall of the D in that game was their inability to recover any of the Giants’ fumbles. And I say that without ever having seen that game in anything other than real time. If the world was a bakery that D still couldn’t find a turnover.

I'm just frustrated because that was supposed to be sort of a "revenge" game for us to get payback from the Giants who ruined our perfect season years before.

Yeah maybe, but we also could've lost SB 49, 51. Giants were the better team that night

They could have won 1 of 9 or 9 of 9. I'm pretty happy with 6.
Even if the Pats lost all of their SBs, which would cast a huge cloud of doubt over their legacy, 9 Super Bowl appearances would have been an amazing accomplishment.

You can add the Rams and Panthers SB’s to that list too. All 4 of those games came down to the last play or possession. The 1st Eagles game also came down to the last possession, but not as crazy as the Rams, Panthers, Seahawks, and Atlanta Sb’s the pats won.

Maybe when everybody said that if we played that 07 SB 10 times, we'd win it 9, they were wrong, and we'd win it 8 times.

There is no could have, would have, should have... especially for a dynasty that always leaves other teams 3 point short (well, sometimes in OT we win by more... and sometimes we play the (2018) Rams.)

Seriously. This is the era of what did happen, not what could have happened. The era is over when you can discuss the strength of a roster and it prohibitively determines the outcome. We didnt create this dynasty back then. We might as well jettison "should have" scenarios.

(But really, I agree, we should have won that one, the other Gintz one, and the Philly one. By all rights and all...)

Only thing that bothers me so much about losing to the Giants in 2011 is I felt they were such an unworthy opponent, and especially with that making them a 2-time champion both against the Pats. It was so cosmically unfair that such a mediocre team had two Lombardis when at the time the Pats only had three, despite one team being in a historically unmatched run and the other being an average team that seemed to get every bounce and miracle play. In perspective, now that’s we have six it bothers me much less, but I still think Eli Manning is so unworthy of the Hall of Fame. ZERO playoff wins in his career outside those two strange SB runs.

Dunno man....

I thought we should have gone to the SB in 2010 too...

I'd rather have won SB 42 though....and like others said....6-5 all time in SB's....cannot complain!!!!

Brady Dominant
Offense Dominant
13-3
Defense played good enough (only gave up 19, plus gave away 6 at end, so really less)

Just watched clips from 10 and 11, and the Pats were awesome, and that Giants team sucked.

Giants punter was great in that game, especially in the first half, but I agree that the injury to Brady and failure to recover a couple of fumbles were the keys.

2010 was probably the biggest disappointment other than the perfect season. Losing to the Jets at home was a nasty shock when I thought we were destined for the Super Bowl that year.
