2019 UDFA’s

I realize I am late to the party, but I would think this kid stands a real shot at making the team. Where is his downside?

He's a little undersized at 292lbs and @reamer who watched some of his tape wasn't overly impressed. But as a UDFA pick, he's well worth a shot to see if he can become something. An ideal practice squad prospect.

Predicting any UDFAs to make the 53?

Jakobi Meyers seems the most likely, except that if the IFs pan out, WR is pretty stacked.

I didn't see a draftable player -- to me, that means he's not a year one/two starter and also doesn't have much ST potential. That doesn't mean that I don't like his traits, however. He just needs to put it all together, and right now his hands and feet are way out of sync. Clean up his technique and he may develop into something in a couple years.

Agree 100%. he just catches everything. IF he has a big camp, he will be the UDFA that makes it.

I got Meyers over Harris, Ellington and Berrios, making the roster if Thomas starts on PUP and Gordon is still suspended. I also watch out for Terez Hall as LB number 6.

Meyers was the most highly rated prospect, but I think Malik Gant has an equally strong path to the roster.

could he replace Ebner/Brooks/Melinfonwu?

Without an injury or the team cutting Ebner I am not sure I see a strong path to be honest.

What is your scenario ?

Quite possibly -- top ST potential of the UDFAs along with upside on defense.

I could see Ryan Davis maybe fitting in the slot. Terez Hall might bump one of the special teams players. Other than that, I like the UDFA class in general, but I don't see any of them displacing starters ahead of them.

In addition to those I think WR is the only wildcard for a UDFA to make it this year because there is a chance that DT and Gordon will both not count against the initial roster. If any of the two does even that path seems closed and as usual the most viable path will be injuries opening up spots.

There is a chance our UDFA streak ends.

So is there a final list of the UDFA's the Pats have signed thus far. No time to read 17 pages

Well, he seems to have chosen to be my binkie, so he's doomed.

But, that said, the Pats do need to think of looking for someone to apprentice behind Edelman. As a receiver and as a punt returner too.

Myers is likely to be our annual WR that flashes in pre-season games, and then makes the PS or is cut before the final 53. He is a fine candidate for WR binkie.

Personally, I think it highly unlikely that he is ahead of ALL of harris, Ellington, Berrios, Patterson and the other UDFA's. And as you say, this presumes that neither DT or Harris is on the 53.

Unless we keep a KR again (unlikely since we have the extra RB and QB), we only need four WR's: Edelman, DT or Gordon, Harry, and Dorsett.

Pretty impressive. I'm guessing that it's not so much about who they sign, as being clear-eyed about what they see in camp rather than lured in by expectations, reputations and sunk costs.

I don't see any of this group making the 53, but someone almost always does.

The LB Terez Hall looks like big safety to me. If they can coach him up to stay in position, having a thumper like him around as a safety when they go to the 5-2-4 amoeba defense that messed with Goff's head in the Super Bowl could be valuable. I have this fantasy that somebody is going to take on the Rodney Harrison persona and be the enforcer in the secondary. This guy has that sort of physical presence and tackling ability. But in coverage? God help us.

The addition of Andrew Beck on the same day they let Jacob Hollister go was interesting. Beck is a 5th year senior captain, made some plays and was solid as a downfield blocker as an H-back type TE. If they keep three, Beck could make the team.

Jakobi Meyers was the 25th highest rated WR at Walter football so he has some skills. It's just hard to see him cracking the WR group barring an injury.

The two Miami linemen were an interesting pickup as well. Belichick won't be able to swing a dead cat without hitting a tackle trying to make the team. Wynn is undersized to be a full-time left tackle, so he'll probably move around on the line depending on down and distance. It looked to me like Dante had those guys on his list and Bill said, "Whatever you need, Mr. Scarnecchia, sir." Belichick understands that this entire dynasty begins and ends with what Dante does to build an offensive line that just gets better every week as the season progresses to keep TFB upright.

I hear you, man. Every year I post about some guy being my binkie. Before my post has a chance to travel through the copper wire to Belichick's Tandy 2000 desktop computer, he's been sent packing. I understand why he doesn't want to be my friend on MyFace, but he shouldn't take it out on these UDFA's busting their ass to make his stupid football team.
