Pats re-sign Josh Gordon

Is it at all possible that the Pats knew or Gordon or his people knew the suspension was coming down the pike...so they signed him knowing they'd only get 9, 10 games put of him...with all eyes toward 2019....just a thought
Nah, I don't think so. He is FAR beyond the 4-6 game penalty. I think it has to either be a full year, or nothing as part of the NFL's recognition that MJ is going to be a part of the rehab/painkilling process from now on, or something like that. There is really no other way to have him back on the field this year, and it certainly looks like he will be back on the field.

BTW- does anyone actually know WHAT he did to have to leave the team. Has it ever been reported that he actually failed a test, or did the pressure just get to him. And if it WAS a failed test, what was it for. I've never seen an answer for either of those 2 questions. Anyone??????

Patriots' Josh Gordon suspended indefinitely by NFL

There are no statistics about future events.

Statistics is using known data to predict an outcome and the degree of uncertainty in that outcome. I disagree with that guy you quoted (based on statistical principles!), but this is also an untrue statement. The reason he's wrong isn't that we can't make predictions about what will happen, it's that the degree of uncertainty in what will happen is excessively large because Gordon's career is a necessarily small sample size with high variability; you may as well say "Brady has a 5 percent chance of missing the entire season" if you're going purely on historical data. That said, and I like Gordon, but nobody should count on him to play a major role. He should be a nice bonus, not a requirement.

If the guy could not pull it together last year, it is pretty much hopeless going forward. Also, he kind of hurt the offense. Brady forced balls to him and then then he got suspended. I'd rather see them build an offense with players they can depend on.

If Gordon is getting paid by the game the tender was $36,000.

Can’t see how Gordon can realistically be counted upon. Great talent, liked teammate, massive potential. Having said that : I won’t be pinning hopes on him. In fact, it was pretty impressive they kept him on the field as long as they did.

Pats don't win it all in 2001 without Terry Glenn who didn't finish the season with the team and likewise without the contribution of Josh Gordon who didn't finish the season with the team. Both Super Bowl wins over the Rams!

Love the fact he’s been working out in his long offseason. When he comes back it’s not going to take as long to get back into playing shape plus he knows a good chunk of the playbook.

Question? Is he allowed to take part in camps with the team while suspended?

Belichick has already been wrong on this very matter. Fact.

Let it go dude. You may find someone more dependable but you won't find a better talent hanging around the scrap piles. Dude catches everything that comes his way. His upside is worth the risk.

I appreciate you finding this but it still doesn't tell us what test he failed. Anyone have anything on that part of the equation.

And if he DOES come back, what will be the conditions. Drug tests every day or what? It must suck to be in that kind of situation where eating a sesame seed bagel can create a positive that ends you career. Now THAT's pressure.

I mean, statistically hes gonna do just that.

Theres nothing factually wrong with my statement. It isnt s prediction.

You understand that something based on statistics is, by definition, a prediction.

Actually that article doesn't even say that he "failed" a test at all. It says he was suspended for "violating the terms of his reinstatement". That could be something like missing a scheduled drug test, or a meeting with a councilor or something related to his bizarre mental health announcement. I think everyone assumed it was a failed drug test for marijuana but I don't believe I ever saw that stated directly by the league, the patriots or JG himself.

I'm sorry, but Jules maybe wouldn't have had to lay his nuts on barbed wire every single play in the playoffs if Flash Gordon decided to show up, like he was coached, trained and paid to do.

In Gordon what the Patriots may get is an incredible cap value to production ratio. It is such a big advantage to a team to be getting Champagne level production at whatever's on tap prices. So while Gordon is obviously a risk for 'all of a sudden' gone for the season(though isn't every player to some degree), the payoff is sweet enough to be, IMHO, well worth the risk.

Is Gordon ready to come back (kept clean) and will he be let out of Roger's prison? We'll see.
