Patriots Pre-Draft Contacts List 2019

I’m seeing quite a few mocks now with Fant falling below 21. Would you do it?

Yes, depending on the other options available. He stresses defenses vertically and in red zone. Incomplete player, maybe, but his blocking isn't poor enough to keep him off the field, and his strengths/roles are well defined.

Fant at 21, Butler at 56 and then a Mecole Hardman later (I’m thinking he can contribute immediately as a returner) would be interesting. Maybe pick up Max Scharping and Khalen Saunders or to round out the top 101.

It might be worth tracking Miami defensive pre-draft contacts. A few similar names to our own contact list.

I decided to do a quick scan of the Texans, Lions, Dolphins and Titans defensive pre-draft contacts because I think we’re all of a type. There’s a lot of defensive names that we’ve had contact with that appear on all, or most of the others. But some names that are on all, or most, of their contacts and not on ours are:

LJ Collier
Charles Omenihu - Actually I think we might have met with him at the combine
Chase Winovich
Maxx Crosby
Terrill Hanks
Sione Takitaki

Don’t discount these names, they’re clearly considered scheme appropriate.

Does anyone know who this is referring to because the link doesn’t work for me

You've already got them both listed, I believe:

Georgia wide receiver Mecole Hardman was among those brought in for a visit. The speedy wide out complied 35 receptions for 543 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior last season. He also returned 16 punts, which could be something the Patriots are seeking. He's likely a Day 2 selection and the Patriots could look for him to be the next Malcolm Mitchell.

The Patriots also hosted linebacker Missouri linebacker Terez Hall even though he's projected to be a Day 3 pick. The report notes Jerod Mayo was part of his workout. This is worth noting because Hall is coming back from injured a pectoral muscle, which is something Mayo dealt with during his career. Hall also suffered a minor Achilles injury at his pro day, which is likely why the Patriots want to bring him in so they can get another medical evaluation on him.

Oh ok thanks. Terez Hall looks to be a second contact however because the previous one was a pro day contact. So that’s two second late contacts. That is interesting for both.

Terez Hall doing stuff

Love the flashes, for sure. His tape and testing suggest an explosive linebacker (39" vert) but he sprained his Achilles during his 40 so he only managed a 4.9, which doesn't match the speed that shows up on the field. He's only about 230, though, so it's tough to imagine the Patriots drafting him earlier than, say, 134.

He’s supposed to lack instincts if I remember his scouting report but there was a stage in the 2017 season where he ranked second in the sEC as a linebacker according to pff to only Roquan Smith. As a day 3 pick he sounds very interesting. A 39.5 vert for a linebacker is pretty special.

Takitaki should be given some really serious consideration as a PTP.

Found another visit and it’s an interesting one.

1. This is a second contact. Nick Caserio was at the Toledo pro day
2. He’s considered by the some the best route-runner in the draft. I’ve heard Antonio Brown comps for him (play style, not suggesting he’s as good)
3. Poor athletically though.
4. PFF love him.

Love Johnson. Seems to play faster than his timed speed as he gets in and out of his breaks so quickly. Would love him in the 4th

Not sure if I brought up Tak but all are definitely PTP & mentioned in my thread. Love Winny, really fun tape. Hopefully Gary acquires some of his gifts as he progresses.

Johnson is rated the 12th overall WR by NFLDraftScout.com with a 3rd round rating.
5'10 4/8", 183 lbs, 1.59 10 yard split, 4.53 - 40, 33.5 in vertical, 10'03 broad, 4.45 shuttle and a 7.09 3-cone.

The shuttle is horrible, but the 3 cone isn't bad.

If he plays faster than his numbers, then it's a good thing and could be a valuable day 2/3 pick.

Those are all combine numbers.. Supposedly only did the vertical at his pro-day..
