Report: Tom Brady may bulk up during the offseason

The usual common wisdom is that as you age you want to CUT weight. But, if the story has merit, Brady isn't one to adhere to what "everyone else" thinks.

He might think that by added some more muscle will allow him to throw the ball harder, as well as absorb more punishment. But that is just pure speculation on my part

Details from Curran, who I think may be getting info directly from Guerrero given that he has been a client of TB12.

Is it bulking season for Tom Brady?
Brady usually loses about five pounds. Last year, he finished the season at about 223 pounds.

This year, the aim is to come in closer to around 232.

He seems to be implying that Brady went from 228 to 223 throughout last season, but would prefer to start at 232 so he ends closer to 227. Not major.

4 game susp for ped’s
Oh you can bet on local guys advancing that notion......whether he bulks up or not. The mere fact hes playing at a high level will be all they need.

If he does lose the weight then that makes a lot sense. He probably wants to feel more durable late in the season, when it matters most opposed to September and October.

Question: Would anyone notice 5-10 pounds on a 6'4" frame? Doesn't sound like much of a change to me, but then I'm not a fitness-obsessed QB with a health business.

Depends on where in the body the weight was added. Legs and shoulders typically show gained muscle weight. Back too.

Back in my youth I was a gym guy and I could tell when I put on 5, 10, 15 or 20lbs.

IMO 5-10lbs of pure muscle is a lot.

Man was that an idiotic play by Brady.

Can't believe I'm saying this but that was a classy move by those Jetes not taking a free shot at him.

I have 10 lbs I can donate to him.

Makes perfect sense... Hightower is thinning down, he can take reps at QB.. Brady is bulking up, he can take reps at linebacker

chess, checkers!

This is a master move by Tommy Boy. Stay with me here, peeps. Tom's now well into his 40s and we know what happens to guys then.
Instead by "announcing" this weight gain publicly he gets cover for a 2 fer.
First, we're conned into thinking "Yeah, this is a good thing for Tom!"
Secondly he fools Gisele and can now snarf down some real guy food instead of the veggie crap their chef is staving them into eating just to stay alive.
No?

Just wear thicker pads

If done properly, it is very possible to put on 5-10 lbs of muscle and maintain flexibility/pliability
5-10 lbs of muscle at his age is extremely difficult to attain unless he's on PED's.`Especially since he doesn't appear to be a genetic freak that puts on muscle just from looking at the weights.
Now just putting on ten pounds of fat is easy.

Tom has a big enough frame to add/carry the weight but agree- maintaining it will be a challenge

I smell a new, $400 a bottle TB12 protein powder about to hit the market.

For an average person maybe. For someone who is surrounded by the best minds and where money is not an issue I dont think it is a difficult thing.

I always considered Gronk too thin on the TB12 plan. Brady too, but how can you argue with the results on the field. At this point in Bradys career, adding muscle would be good to do IMO. You just feel better jacked and pumped. Pete Carroll always did.

I want to see Tom in disguise as Col Sanders in one of those KFC commercials
