Karras, Schwenke, Croston, Ferentz; How Many Upgrades Do We Need

3rd rounder. Croston or 6-7 rounder as 4th OT.

I think we'll draft another OG next year as Thuney replacement unless we land a steal this year already.
Why do you need to replace a guy who might possibly be gone next year in this draft?
Have we ever drafted an IOL in early rounds in order to sit on the bench in case the starter doesnt resign next year.

If you see Karras as a starter, then your analysis is reasonable.

It’s certainly possible that Karras could step in for either Thuney (free agency) or Andrews (injury). Also, Croston has experience both inside and out.

I’m not seeing IOL as much of a need, myself.

I see IOL as a 6th/7th-round need, whereas I see OT as a top-100 need because of the unknown that is Wynn and the injury risk that is Cannon, and because we currently have Zero players in the building, besides Wynn & Cannon, of even backup quality.

I view OL as the teams biggest need heading into this draft.

Pundits can talk all they want about the need to "replace" Gronk at TE. The notion of replacing a generational talent with a single player is laughable. The good news is that the Patriots do not need a prime-Gronk type player to succeed in 2019. This is a power run offense, the element of the 2018 version of Gronk's game that most needs to be replaced is his outstanding blocking. The easiest path to this is with a high pick at OL.

That is an interesting take if I understand it. We don't need a blocking TE, we need an athletic OT. Allen was not fooling anyone by catching balls so he was essentially an athletic OT. I had not thought about it that way. Not sure the TE\OT hybrid guy exists, but I am not a draft expert.

He does. Put 30 pounds on Wesco and he would be a beast OT.
