Since a lot of fans deride Brady by calling the penalty for attempting to take out a QB's knees "the Brady rule" - I think it's fair that if the overtime rule guaranteeing a possession to each team that it should forever be known as "the Patrick Mahomes Rule".

The reason why is obvious. Let's just say the same people who are crying that it "wasn't fair" that the Chiefs lost that way would be gloating about Brady and the Patriots losing in the exact same manner. You know it's true.

if they change the rule, i really would love for us to win a playoff game next season using the new rule

Ha ha!

Let them continue changing rules. Love it. Ok so next year when we beat the chiefs again, they can look for some more bs

That would be great. The same kind of thing happened in the AFC championship game against KC with Hogan's catch. A Pats hater at work was whining that last year it would have been a drop. I reminded him that the rule was changed because the Pats had benefited from it the year before. I asked him if they should change it back again, lol.

All I will say is Andy Reid

its actually the Carson Palmer rule...the Pats just get blamed for everything

... After winning the coin toss and deferring ...

It's to be expected. We went through the same thing when Manning wad with the Colts.

IIRC, the 5-yard rule to protect wide receivers came about because of the way the team beat up the Rams WR's during SB 36.

Look at it this way: New England is a trend setter and had led the way in rule changes by being the very best at exploiting, legally, the NFL's game rules. Think how boring the game might be if New England wasn't such a winning team.

The game is MUCH more boring now than it was 20 years ago.

I would prefer to win in regulation outright.

So is it already set in stone, the 4 & 15 BS? How far are we from removing defensive part of the game altogether (or special teams for that matter)?

And here's hoping no game goes to overtime in the 2019 season.

I am confused isn't the defense supposed to stop the other team either in regulation or OT??

Perhaps they should look at the ineptitude of other coaches rather than just changing the rules..

BB loves his masterful mindgames that cannot be matched by the rest of the NFL "intelligentsia"...

Still bothered by the fact that Reid had plenty of time to go for the win, but went for the tie instead.

Wonder how this would be interpreted? OT, pats lose coin toss and have to kick off. Elect 4th and 15 on side kick option, convert and drive the field for TD. Game over? Or opponent still needs to have offensive opportunity? Many options with the 4th and 15 kick. Consecutive series to keep opponents offense on bench....

Why? He's a wimp
He had a chance to win the game but chose the safe route. The rules cost him the game. Damn, let's change them!

Is there another major league sport that alters the rules year after year like the NYFL?

And I find it comical that they are all based on stopping Bill Belichick and his team.

Me too! Then they'd have to change it back again next year!
