The year of the Double Dip

I expect a double dip at WR and maybe a triple dip at D line.

I could even see a scenario where they take a WR at 32 and another WR in rounds 2-3. Should be fun to watch.

Greg Schiano = Totally unrelated but having Schiano on the staff is an immediate boost to scouting of the Big 10, always good to have intel.

Did Schiano actually go on recruiting trips with Meyer and OSU’s scouting department? Nevertheless, I think if we double dip anywhere, it’ll be at DT. The team was fortunate that they ran into 3 teams with question marks at RB, either by way of injury or the team stupidly cutting its stud back, in the postseason. DT needs a major upgrade IMO. It’s almost as urgent as the TE position was going from 2009-2010.

Same with wide receiver, although based on everything we are hearing lately, bb is trying hard to bring in a veteran or two.

Well, I think you could make a case for a double dip at a lot of positions. Hell, some might like a double dip at OL (OT/G).

TE I could see as well if you get good value with Sternberger and Oliver/Warring. Lots of possibilities.

All depends on where the value is. Pats always draft near the bottom so they have to go after guys that other teams undervalue but could fit into our system.

Unfortunately this usually means we get bottom of the barrel wide receivers who just can't cut it here. Don't know how we are going to break the 10 year curse. Prior to drafting Edelman in 2009 our only other starting quality WR draft pick was what... Deion Branch in 2002? So two starters drafted in 18 years under BB?!

Someone explain to me why we fail so hard at drafting wide receivers. Is it our scouts or is it our offensive system?

He was already damaged goods coming out of college, so he actually held very little promise aside from that of being re-injured sooner rather than later.

I agree this could be a double dip draft. WR, TE, DL, & S could all take two. This is a deep draft for both TE and S.

I agree! For every one Mitchell there are a hundred or so bethel Johnson’s!

This year, it would be nice to see bb break his pattern of drafting when it comes to wide receivers and go for a guy with super production in college over a guy with super physical characteristics.

So while a guy like Paris Campbell has super speed, he disappears for quarters at a time in games and runs I limited route tree.

A guy like Harry is not a burner, but he has a ton of yards and catches against double teams almost every game. He runs the whole route tree, plus carries the rock on occasions. He knows how to get open and should be able to learn option routes!
