Jordy Nelson is free....

Nelson could be the formerly great receiver that retires in camp lol. I'd be down to take a shot though.
No kidding. Every year we either have a WR or OLineman say no mas in camp. Its like clockwork.

Edelman, ???, Gordon, Dorsett, Harris, Ellington (pick 5)

We need to replace ??? with an upgrade to Hogan.

Bringing in Nelson and 4 or 5 others works for me.

Sign him. We have no eligible WR that can beat one on one coverage on the outside
Neither can Nelson anymore. He's a possession receiver at this point. Still has great hands and runs good routes.

Regards,
Chris

What makes you think that Isabella has a higher ceiling than a proven NFL player who just had a bidding war for his rights in FA ?

I don't know enough about either player for an opinion, but I can understand the logic behind the claim that a college player with better speed, height, strength, other tangibles, could have a higher ceiling than a proven NFL 5 foot 10 inch slot receiver.

It's the downside where you get burnt.........

Edit - Sorry he's the same size. Yeah it's a ridiculous statement.

I trust those yess Dads:rolleyes: to draft either Riley Ridley - Deebo Samuel - AJ Brown - Andy Isabella - David Sills or Hunter Renfrow.
We need on "on-time" WR. OK Here is my issue. BB is stubborn about Drafting WR. It has to do with his scouting Department. They are not WR friendly for sure. The last WR they picked was a great kid Maicom Mitchell but he had bad wheels. They knew he had bad wheels. They had a terrible Draft that year. Cyrus Jones was our first Draftee in the 2nd Round. We got Thuney (very good) and back up LB Roberts still on the Team.
It's all about trust and TB is leery of rookies which might have hurt Dobson. How may years did it take for JE? I think that Nelson gives TB that "on-time" WR. Cooks came in here with that already from Drew.
I think you might see Dorsett have a better year. Not Cooks production (or JE) but at least better than Hogan or LaFell best numbers.

I might watch this kid Harris they just picked up. He played a limited amount of snaps but his numbers were actually better than Dorsett. By the way, Harris also returned kicks and did rush the ball......hmm.
DW Toys

BB loves the more obscure type WR's with paltry stats...a guy like Jory Nelson is just too known not BB's cup of tea.
Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Josh Gordon, Eric Decker, Brandon Lloyd, Dante Stallworth, etc

I'd say it has to do with Isabella's speed. He ran a 4.31 40 at the combine. In high school, he won the Ohio state 100 meter dash and ran the fastest 60 meter dash in the nation that year. I haven't seen him play, but that speed is exciting.

Speed is one important variable for sure, but with WR it's quickness, how you run in pads, how you run routes, and on and on.

I don't know what Humphries runs, but I do know that to have more upside this player would have to be at least as good as a proven highly sought after NFL player in everything else. Possible. Of course.

What's impossible is that anyone on this forum would know enough to say this.

I agree, straight line speed is overrated. Quickness and agility are more important. Body control and the ability to cut sharply & explosively are what creates separation at the NFL level.

This is one of the reasons I am not really intrigued by D.K. Metcalf. He 40-time is amazing for a guy his size, but his agility scores are very poor.

Old man Nelson > Hogan, IMO.....

63 receptions, 739 yards, 3 TD's with most of it coming in the 2nd half of the season after the Cooper trade.

Hogan's line: 35 receptions, 532 yards, 3 TD's

Pats weren't interested in him last year, so not sure why they would be interested this year, unless they are getting desperate...
If they're not at least interested in him, they should be.

Ceiling yeah sure, maybe. But can we wait those 1-2 years until he gets there ? Will he ever get there ?

Sounds good, but don't expect Packers to sign Jordy Nelson

"And while Nelson will be 34 years old once the 2019 season begins, he still has some gas left in the tank. Last year, Nelson recorded 63 receptions for 739 yards and three touchdowns on 88 targets. Those numbers made him the Oakland Raiders' second-best receiver and he would have been the Packers' second-best receiver had the team not cut him."

"That being said, it's unlikely the Packers would bring him back this season. When the Packers cut Nelson last year, the main reason was the money he was making which was a little over $9 million. He was offered a pay cut, but Nelson decided to be released and he was not happy about the entire situation. But if the Packers decided to bring Nelson back it would indicate two things: They made a mistake by cutting him and they are not confident in their current receiver corps outside of Adams."

I doubt he leaves Seattle without a contract.

Has sort of a Decker or Wayne feel to it but I mean hell, he's gotta be better than Hogan was last season. Right?
DEFINTELY feels like Decker or Wayne, and will probably have the same results. 34 years. I'd say he was toast, though he had a solid season with the Raiders. If he could repeat that with the Pats, it would be a good signing, but there are no guarantees he would make it out of training camp like those 2.

At this point I just want us to land the good receiver we are actually interested in.
Top players going to Ohio,Tennessee,Buffalo?
What is going on?

Tory Holt, Reggie Wayne, and Joey Galloway say hi
