Malcom Brown and Danny Shelton (UPDATE: Brown to Saints)

I like Shelton as a DT vs inside running teams ...
Problem is how much is that worth ... that role puts him inactive for a bunch of games.
We can find someone to fill that role in later rounds of the draft also or even undrafted.
Its too bad there isn't a real life drug like The Nutty Professor.

Vs passing teams the player is 285. Vs running teams he balloons up to 375 like Ted Washington.

That way the player plays 16 games and saves a roster spot.

So I remember all of us gleefully mocking the Colts for picking Dorsett over Brown.

I guess we have to eat some crow now.

Dorsett was a bust.

Brown started 51 games played 2000 snaps and has two Super Bowl rings

Counterpoint: Most of us are happy to have Dorsett back and nobody seems sad to see Brown go.

Now that Brown has signed and is factoring into the comp formula (We are currently at the max 4 expected comp picks), I wouldn't mind bringing back Shelton on a modest deal.

I think Gallup polling would tell us if Brown came back for 1yr $2.5m people would be OK with it.

If he came back at the Aints deal the board would melt.

Same goes for Dorsett. If BB did 3/15 for Dorsett people would be WTF but attribute it for an inflated WR market

Good for Malcom Brown, who certainly seems to be a nice young man, as well as a mediocre defensive lineman.

I had hope for Shelton, but realized that Malc Brown was a bust years ago.

He landed in a great spot for chow.

Brown has had a significantly better carter than Dorsett. Brown has played the most of 2nd most snaps at the DT position on a team that has gone to 3 SBs and won 2 of them in his 4 years which the worst year being a 2 point AFCCG loss.
Dorsett has struggled to get on the field.

Run free, sweet fat Prince.

I’d say “don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out” but with an ass that fat I don’t think that’s possible.

Both those guys are 26, but play like theyre 36.

U Texas players aint like they used to be.

Personally i do not consider M.Brown a bust but for sure a disappointment so i have no regrets that he left

He was never a dominant player, but he didn't get the number of snaps he got by being a stiff either. He was a pretty solid player for us, but not worth $5m given our cap picture and overall DT situation.

Not excited too about Shelton...only perhaps for a modest deal...

I would like to draft well here @ DT

Weird how team needs change after a couple years

lmao c'mon are you seriously suggesting that it's 'team needs' that are why we just saw our 2015 1st rounder leave for a 3 year $15m deal and nobody is sad about it?

Yeah, definitely the team has no need for interior lineman, you nailed that one buddy.

I don't think the board would've exactly melted, depending on how the contract was structured. Brown wasn't an All-Pro here, but he was certainly serviceable, especially late in December and throughout January & February. Now if Dorsett had been signed to the same contract - and while I am certainly glad he has re-signed - I don't know if the reaction would've been as favorable as it currently is.

We're talking about two teams here, the Patriots and Colts. We made fun of the Colts for picking a WR when their need was a DT. Now we need a WR (hence re-signing Dorsett) and don't need two mediocre DTs (Brown and Shelton).
