A Lot of Pass Rushers Appear To Be On Trade Market:

Ah yes! It's that time of year!

This is when many people on this board, brighter than I, attempt to assess player value to the team. I don't follow college football at all so I have no clue whatsoever regarding draftees and their projected values.

In the large, I have great faith in Bill Belichick , the GM, since team building under the CAP while drafting dead last tends to be a significant, complex undertaking and yet his teams go to the Super Bowl EVERY OTHER YEAR (on average). (BTW: That is a F*cking stunning statistic!!)

Yes. I rest easy at this time of the NFL year and eagerly await the 6th "Three Games To Glory" DVD. I can hardly wait to read all of the stories in early May from the Boston Media about how BB screwed up the Draft again!

Good times! ;)
Thanks for coming in

It's been a frustrating 19 years, but as soon as BB figures out that we need an elite pass rusher (and a tall receiver) this team can finally win some games!

For all that Id offer Flowers 14 million he is a important core piece and we don't want him prancing to Miami.
that's where he will end up IMO. miami will overpay. the pats won't. see ya.

I don't see us competing with Miami if Flowers hits the open market. It just depends on if we can get close enough and he wants to stay. I'm not so sure.

how does he or we know what Miami wants to offer if he doesn't hit the open market? So I don't see why he would accept a deal prior to FA.

They all have way too big of a caphit.

I think we will make 1-2 smart signings like we did in 15 and 16.

Wake as veteran presence for example would be enticing.
He had a bit of a down year, but Wake is definitely intriguing, even if he projects as mostly a situational guy at this point.

I think there's another level in there. Not sure how high the ceiling is but he's still getting better. I think it's probably not as high as Flowers was but I'm ok relying on him for 1 spot.
Agreed. I have seen enough you feel like there's a bit more developing with him.

Is Malik Jackson still good? Looks like he's at about a $13-14M base for the next three years. All the stupid money has already been paid, and he could be cut without a huge dead cap hit after this year. If they can't find a trade partner, I imagine they'll just eat the $4M dead cap hit this year.

Jaguars trying to trade Malik Jackson, Carlos Hyde

Flowers is a really good defensive lineman.

Long arms, uses leverage extremely well, sets a strong edge, strong at the point of attack, and has a variety ways of ways to get to the passer without having a "go-to" pass rush move per se. He's an extremely well rounded player who reminds me a lot of Strahan.

He should be priority #1.

Most teams want to trade players at this point because they don't want to pay for their high contract level compensation.

It is for that very reason that Flowers MUST be franchised.

(It was just a dream I had that Bill already used the Tag on our choke-ass Kicker...right?)

At this point in time Miami isn't exactly swimming in cap space and has a lot of holes.
I also have a difficult time picturing Trey Flowers 'prancing' but that's a completely different subject

Throwing this out there with Houston’s recent release.

Houston's cost might be a bit less than Flowers, but in the same ballpark.

I suspect that he would be a major plus to the defense.

System fit is the big question here though. Guy has played in a 3-4 his entire career.

He would command a lot still... Probably north of 10M a year, but who knows.

Him and Bennet would make a very good duo rushing, but is he versatile enough for us?

Color me intrigued, even if i don't think is all that likely

Flowers is a system pass rusher.
