Would the Patriots consider bringing back Jamie Collins?

Slightly OT; id love to see Kwon Alexander here, give him a one year deal to prove it after coming off an ACL tear. Would be a good guy to have.

Lol you really don't care for Roberts at all. What did you think of his play during the playoffs?

Yeah, not a big fan...I think the defense played their best when he was on the bench.

That's a pretty sunny, makin-lemonade-y take on most of the 2018 draft class missing a year of play and practicing.

There is a First and Second Rounder on that list and Bentley turned out to be a nice late Round find who played some before his injury. I wasn't putting anybody in Canton but that's a lot of young players competing.

ashley funny I heard you hyping up your boyfriend after one of his violent hits in the Game thread a few moons back... you guys must have broke up.:D

But did we all think that KVN had the ceiling he's displaying now?? I thought he would be just an average player: he's now above average. And I always thought Jamie Collins was better player hands down.

I was a fan of KVN coming out but no, I didn’t expect him to have the impact he had when he came to the Pats. But, he fits us very well and we know what we’re getting with him. High upsides are nice but high floors are pretty important as well and KVN’s floor is a fair bit higher than Collins’.

The more I read that more I become more torn about a possible Collins return. On one hand, clearly his inconsistencies, lack of gap discipline, and upcoming contract situation made him available to Cleveland, who had the cap space and needed a "big name" player.

The case for bringing him back would be that now that he's seen Cleveland and watched his old team go to 3 straight superbowls since he was dealt; he has seen the light. He knows what hell looks like, and like the prodigal son, wants to return to heaven.

On the other hand, and btw the most LIKELY scenario, Collins was just one of those players for whom the Patriot Way wasn't for them. Doesn't make him a bad guy, but just not applicable for THIS program. When you add that to the fact that, while you aren't going to have to pay him over $10MM/yr, you'd still have to pay him $5-6MM, and even that's too much to spend. Besides, I doubt very much that he's WANT to come back to NE.

I think Collin's best shot at coming back would be if there is a basic lack of interest in him at the start of FA and he's still there after the draft. That's when the 2nd tier of FA begins, and at THAT point, you could sign him to a deal with a $2MM base and perfornamce incentives that could get it up to that 5-6 range.

I have the "feeling" that he enjoyed going 0-16 at 10Mill a year more than winning a SB on a rookie contract. Hard pass.

could they? sure
will they? probably not

be nice to know why BB ran him out of town mid-season

That was obvious, it was the only way to get a return on him, and Collins had decided he was going to play for stats, not as part of a team defense. The move was ripped as ending their season by many, they beat the Seahawks, and won Lombardi #4.

Probably the most underrated player in FA.

So it was " just" the freelancing ? most likely you are correct here... Still, I would have paid money to have been a fly on the wall in BBs office that day

I never saw his winkie. I should have. Just to say "I've seen a Patriots' player ****." Because then I'd have something in common with Lisa Olson.

Do owners count? You may be checking this off your list very soon.

I heard from a few people who knew him that he hated it here ... the area - not the team.

No. The Pats have shown a willingness, at times to a fault, to overlook shortcomings of character and background, but stupidity has always been a stopper, and that is Collins' problem.

he is one of the top guys on the market this FA period. He will get 4 and 32 with about 12 guaranteed.

If he does that means that he's learned winning is more important than anything else.

Would also mean that he'll more likely be a beast again like he was his first few years.

I forgot about the sex tape!!!

Sex tape doesn’t mean what I thought it did. Now I have adhesive residue on my most sensitive body parts.
