Hightower not willing to take a pay cut

12 picks is nice and all but I think people forget that 5 of them are hardly valuable.

Is this the time to bring up all the day 3 picks and UDFAs who most certainly made a difference ? Especially on this team ?

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Yes Belichick has had success with 7th round picks and UDFA's. That doesn't make 7th rounders better than UDFA's.

If Belichick wants a lot of picks, he can trade for them at any point.

The reality is that there is a huge amount of difference between picks in the first 3 rounds (and even the 4th) and those picked later. As an indicator, those picked in the first four rounds always make the team, PUP or IR.
==========
I would trade all the 6th's and 7th's for a 4th in a second; so would Belichick.

They must have seen the pictures on the internet.

Cause if they saw it on the internet they just know it's true

No he wouldn’t.

I really don't get people wanting to get rid of Hightower. He is an amazing player under a fair contract.

I don’t want him going anywhere. He seemed back to his old self in the playoffs

Its a response to a hypothetical post. Why do you care?
Because misinformation is an issue on this board. Literally nothing happened and you said it immediately puts Hightower on trade watch.

I guarantee this thread will lead to people in who makes the 53 threads arguing that Hightower won’t because bb wanted him to take a pay cut and he refused.

The reporting is the NEP never approached High but if asked, he wouldnt take one

Think about this for a second.
The patriots have not asked Hightower to take a paycut. That means any thought of a paycut is fake news.
Hightower said he wouldn’t take one. You call that reporting? Do you agree that 100,000 of 100,000 who were not asked to take a paycut and get asked by a reporter if they would like to take one, they say no. It’s the most meaningless comment that could exist.

The only news in this is that the patriots haven’t asked which evidentially DECREASES the chance he would be traded. You took that and portrayed it as evidence the trade watch is on.
You literally got it backwards.

No. Your brain is working overtime on this topic.

Hightower was asked if he would be willing to take a pay cut and he said no. That is the news which spawns a speculative topic on a fan board.

We can debate the importance and relevance of the news but the news is we know the player's position on the matter.

It’s not news.
Do you think there is any chance ever that any player who wasn’t asked by his team to take a paycut would respond to a reporter asking if he would take a paycut by saying yes? By virtually volunteering a paycut?

There is no news. There is a reporter asking a stupid question and getting the only answer he could possibly get.

You are speculating based on what question Doug kyed chose to ask that was100% certain to get a rhetorical answer.

And no you do not know Hightower’s stance you know whether Hightower would volunteer to take a paycut. But we already knew that.

Report: Amendola willing to take a pay cut to stay with Patriots

The report on Hightower is the opposite position.

I am speculating. I think they do want High to take a pay cut. So what?

Andy’s on fire this morning. I love it.

The team would surely love HT to restructure. As a three time SB champ with lotsa cash and under 30, I don’t blame HT if he refuses.

Having said that : I would gladly pay HT what he is owed this year, despite what some would call a subpar season. This guy ALWAYS comes up huge in the biggest games and - apart from BB & TB - you could make a solid case that he is the player most « attached » to this second dynasty (#11 and Gronk being good considerations as well).

HT has been injured and such, but he lasted basically all season and was there when it counted in the SB. Pay him the remainder of his contract and deal with contracts when they expire in this case.
