Kraft Orchids Case - Prosecuters Want a Tug Rule?

But I still gotta laugh at those who think that legalizing prostitution will prevent human trafficking.

It is hyperbolic to suggest anyone believes legalization will prevent trafficking but there's a widespread belief among many experts it would make a serious dent in it. Just so you know the list of organizations that favors legalization includes, but is not limited to, such diverse voices as The Lancet Medical Journal, Amnesty International, the WHO, the ACLU and the Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women. I'm always willing to listen to a well supported argument and having read theirs I found them compelling. I also have to figure they are just a tad more well informed on the subject than most Pats fans, particularly one that that somehow holds the belief the end of Prohibition was somehow a boon to organized crime.

I can't believe you worry about this:

“I can’t believe how many morons like me are here taking a picture,” a man identified as Brock P. of Jupiter said. “Now this place is a historical site, it’s a tourist attraction — everyone wants a picture.”

It’s just attention we don’t need.

Jupiter is spring training site for the St Louis Cardinals. Driving by I could see many red shirts in the parking lot checking out the day spa.

Can you point out where he said he was worrying about it?

congrats and welcome to ignoreland. long overdue

I’m honored! As far as I know I haven’t made that list for anyone else. Hard to prove though.

Too bad, even though we’re on opposite ends of the political spectrum, I thought we had some good football discussions.

It doesn't need to be rare. It needs to be extinct.

But I still gotta laugh at those who think that legalizing prostitution will prevent human trafficking. Once you legitimize demand, supply will be generated in ways that are not necessarily to your preferences -- we're finding that out with the whole cannabis thing. And those who use illegal foreign workers will have a competitive advantage over those who use local labor. If we can't stop human trafficking for construction workers -- and we can't -- why the heck does anyone actually think that legalizing prostitution will do anything but galvanize the existing networks the pimps use to bring in fresh meat?

Heck there was a big scandal in my tiny little town in Maine, about a Chinese restaurant that used illegal forced labor from "home" to fill its wait staff and kitchens. The business only survived because the owner successfully pled ignorance (which I mean, the owner didn't know where his payroll was going, right, come the F on, but still). If that can happen in a Chinese restaurant in a small village in Maine, it can happen anywhere for any reason -- prostitution is simply the tip of the human trafficking iceberg -- the one piece of the puzzle that draws enough outrage for something to occcasionally be done about it.

The problem is distinguishing between a hostage and someone who was pressured by poverty into a bad decision.

IMO they could do a better job on protecting children and that should be the focus. It is absolutely outrageous that Jeffrey Epstein was allowed to skate. That piece of human garbage deserves to be flayed living.

In reality, neither you nor I know what he is like. I want to believe he the story but I have heard rumors that he often went to events with Lander, even when he was married. And people have shown me pics of Lander with Kraft when Myra was still battling cancer.

Fair point. Maybe I'm trying too hard to put a happy spin on this.

When I first saw headlines saying Kraft was involved in a sex trafficking scandal, I was like . When I read that this hysteria was just about a lonely old man getting a handy at a crappy massage parlor, I couldn't help but go into defend mode.

As hilarious as it may be to them now, these idiots will be crushed when some of the punishment claims being tossed around such as being stripped of draft picks, loss of ownership, etc don’t come to fruition.

Is there going to be a live feed on patriots.com when Bob Kraft gets arrested? I wanna watch.

John S Johnson isn’t being slowed down, we can be sure of that. His new method will be taking his car in for some work and to let the secretary know it’s got a rod knock issue that needs attention. ;)

I think there’s a good chance Goodell goes overboard with a suspension (like in Brady’s case) even as the courts settle the case. And all of the Patriots band around Kraft against the injustice of Goodell same as they did with Brady and motivates us all season. McCourty has already started the chat saying Kraft’s a great guy and community person etc. I bet to the players, Kraft getting a hand job after his wife passed away, is going to be more sympathy rather than disgust or rage at an illegal activity. I think overall this will turn out ok for us. Plus it likely starts the process of Jonathan Kraft taking control during Bob’s suspension, which is ok too.

What's puzzling here is that, despite a constant drumbeat to the contrary here on the forum, local (Juniper and FL) law enforcement have repeatedly said that the video tapes show full sex being involved, of all types, and often unprotected.

I haven't seen anyone saying anything to the contrary. The Kraft hand job thing comes from the police report.
