I love Micks.
The Micks and the Jews have long held a symbiotic relationship in the northeast.I've been eating bagels with lox, chive cream cheese and red onion since I was five years old. Grew up down the block from Davis's deli on the East Side of Providence. Old man Davis gave me my first job stocking shelves and stacking pickle barrels when I was just 14. He's in his 90's now and frail in health but still works the deli and still insists on slicing my lox by hand right from the whole side.

My dad still lives 2 doors down Davis's, right across from the library. He brings me stuff from Davis's several times a year.

The Irish are by far the most likable people on the planet, IMO. An unbeatable combination of self-deprecating and fun.

This explains why Edelman plays so well under McDaniels. (Who may not be Irish.)

McDaniels is Scottish...goes way back to the 13th century when they were McDonnells. The Scots think the Irish are insane, which is why they allied against the King of England way back when. The Irish and Scots have a long history of smoking salmon but there is NOTHING on this planet better than Ashkenazi lox, which is NOT smoked but rather brined or cured with salt. I always find it hilarious when these new gen foodies stridently preach the benefits of fish oil to me. I just smile and nod in agreement. I think to myself "good...let the little ba$tards keep taking pills and poaching their filets of king salmon...just stay the hell away from MY lox!"

Lox? All I can think of is corned beef.

It's hard to beat a real Jewish deli. I'm am thankful we've got this in Houston - Kenny & Ziggy's

House made everything ... it is awesome.

I grew up in North Providence and we would make a trek
to Miller's which was North Main St/Pawtucket Ave area ... great stuff.

Also there was Lou's Diner on Broad Street in South Providence ... best tomato soup ever.
