Rumor: Pats Season Opener Down To Four Options:

Chiefs would be best saved for a mid season matchup when both teams are gelling (I'd prefer to play the opener if I were KC though, they usually come out hot while we often times don't). Should send the Brownies to town.

Browns is the one that would make most sense. No guarantee that they will be relevant past W5.

Steelers and Chiefs will be kept for prime time games later in the season and the Giants matchup has lost its spice given our 3 SB titles since they have been relevant the last time.

Hope its the Steelers, what a smack in the face it would be to them and the fans watching to watch us celebrate winning 6.
Just thought for a second, have the Steelers been blown out every single time they’ve come to Foxborough to play Brady? 2015 opener was a 7 point win but, it wasn’t close. I think Brady has blown em out every single time.

The ratings are going to be high no matter what. Giants/Pats, Chiefs/Pats, Steelers/Pats are all getting monster ratings.

In the past it made sense to do Chiefs because there was a bit of a storyline there and Kansas City wasn't an automatic ratings attraction before Mahomes.

So probably Browns. Thought to be honest I'd love for the Steelers to be there for the 6th

PITT at NE since 2001 in regular season:
NE…
W 30-14 in 2002
W 34-13 in 2007
W 55-31 in 2013
W 28-21 in 2015

in 2008 PITT won at NE with Cassel playing, 33-10.

Really hope it isn’t the Chiefs because Andy Reid will spend 4 months planning just for that game and blow his load while we’re still carefully feeling things out. Not a good matchup for us.

Assuming we open on Sunday night due to the Bears Packers 100th anniversary taking Thursday I think it will be the Giants. Reason being the Red Sox and Yankees play that night and the NFL would love to stick it to them in the ratings.

I most want it to be the Steelers. I least want it to be the Chiefs. I expect it to be the Giants.

I don't think the NFL has to dedicate any of their energy to baseball to stay ahead in viewership.

Not about staying ahead it’s about a “**** you.”

Chiefs-Pats may be the new marquee matchup the way Colts-Pats used to be where they save it for November sweeps.

I just don't see the Giants being that first game. I know NY is the big market but that's just not a good game.

My money says Pittsburgh.

KC and Pitt are too big of a draw to not save for primetime SNF or MNF.

NYG? Who cares. They are a mess.

Cleveland is the most logical choice. A franchise on the rise and they have what appears to be a franchise QB and a young team who took the Saints into round 10. The Browns are loaded with cap space and draft picks again. I see a lot of love for that team leading into 2019.
