These guys come up with some really dumb stuff. They wanted a KC LA super bowl

OMG. You can't post stuff like this without telling us where you work. You've generated a strong desire to avoid your organization's products/services.

For example, when a competitor comes out with a new product design that makes yours obsolete, does everyone at your company accuse them of unfair business practices?

Career Guidance

One: people at work are claiming it’s cheating to line up in a defense that no one has seen before. I’m not sure about this but guys are comparing it to that Baltimore game where certain alignments were quasi legal.

Two. They are also claiming that Brady’s legacy is harmed by winning?????

How’s that even possible? I’d have been happy with 6-3 pats and couldn’t be convinced that it harms brady to get more rings. It seems like utter non sense

You work at an LSD lab?

If you could just post the nonsense they say to justify that those of us in need of more amusement would be in your debt. You don't by any chance work in the pharmaceutical industry, Manning Inc or for Joe Montana do you?

My big takeaway from your post is that you work with a bunch of idiots. Really, truly stupid people who don’t deserve any sort of response other than derisive laughter.

Start looking for a new job for your own sake.

Tomorrow's conversation at your work:

Coworker: "Have you tried the new reformulated Clorox yet?"
You: "No, have you? Is it better than the old formula?"
Coworker: "I couldn't taste the difference."

You would have a hard time avoiding Eaton Corp. products. Anything with a hydraulic valve in it. Superchargers etc. mainly, we make valves and gears

Oh heck, I know Eaton. Had a good colleague do some leadership development work for you, quite some time ago. Irish homebase, right?

(Big enough that the people in your office demonstrating no common sense probably can't do much harm!)

Wolverines home base. But we have nimrods from every place imaginable. One great thing is the transfers. You get to see a lot

Zone defenses aren't new.

And the Rams have seen them before.

In fact, Goff was abysmal against zone defenses this year. His rating was putrid against them.

Goff has seen zone defenses before--he just doesn't know what to do against zone defenses, except go into a shell.

You can bet Patricia had a word or two with Belichick about Goff and zone defenses.

(contrasted to the rules for offense saying you have to have 7 men on the LOS and only 1 man can be moving and that can’t be in the forward direction).

Football question for anybody who knows: what's the underlying logic for the offense formation strict rules listed above?

Goff looked lost, confused and down

Tom Brady's legacy is hurt by winning?!?!?! That may be the single dumbest thing I have ever heard. Not even Cliff Kellerman would roll with that.

No, it makes perfect sense. You just have to approach it from the proper perspective.

For instance, Peyton Manning's legacy is about putting up incredible individual stats while maintaining a losing playoff record, including all-time marks for most playoff losses and most one-and-dones. If he's your QB gold standard, then winning tarnishes that legacy. Aaron Rodgers' legacy is about being the Most Talented Quarterback to ever have fewer career playoff victories than Joe Flacco. Etc.

It doesn't beat, "Is the Super Bowl a best of three series?"

I am guessing that the people giving you grief were not thinking so hard, but still I am trying to imagine what defensive alignment was so unfair that anyone could possible think that it must have been cheating.

We played:

-quarters zone coverage
-some cover 4 zone
-some cover 2 zone
-some cover 1 zone
- a lot of man-to-man, on 3rd down especially
- We put a safety (Chung, before he was hurt) and a linebacker right on the line of scrimmage to destroy their zone run plays with a 6-man front
- We used an impressive variety of delayed blitzes and stunts
- We gave them the "amoeba" look, especially on 3rd down, where lineman are not in a stance and the O-line has a really hard time deciphering whom to block

All of that taken together was quite a confusing package to deal with, but not a single thing in there is even remotely close to unfair, illegal, or even completely new. It was arguably "out of character" to play so much zone, but that is quite a whine. It's like Donald telling Thuney "you can't block me 1-on-1" and thinking that it means something. They were dominating Donald 2-on-1. If he can't beat it, that's on his team for not taking advantage if the extra attention paid to him.

Other football leagues (Arena and CFL come to mind) allow an offensive player to be running forward at the snap. I think it looks strange since I am so used to not seeing it. I think it certainly helps the offense by giving that receiver a running start but it's a gimmick the NFL certainly doesn't need.
