Pre Super Bowl Thread- On to the Rams

Dev also had a rough game last year in the super bowl but bill benching butler for whatever reason made guys play in positions that they hadn’t played in all year. Foles made them pay. I want to see a throwback to SB 36. Smack their receivers around as much as they can. Getting a penalty here and there is worth it. We’re in a position defensively similar to 36. Replace Marshall Faulk with Gurley and Isaac Bruce and Ricky prohl with cooks and woods.

Im not afraid of Goff running the ball so Id play a man defense mainly mix in some zone.
Id bring the pressure to Goff make him make quick decisons in tight windows.
If we can stop the run we should be able to not allow Goff to have a career day.
What we should see what I want to see is 3 ints from our secondary.
I want Cooks beat up at the line no clear release.
If we stop Gurley our D will win.

Alshon Jeffrey is a beast. He’s a mismatch for almost any secondary. Do the rams have a guy like that? I mean cooks is good but he’s not as big as Jeffrey

That Eagles team was very good at a lot of different positions. Ertz is a top-notch TE, they had a great running game and both lines were deep and very good. They annihilated the Vikings in the NFCCG and the Vikings had a very good defense. I think the fatal error was underestimating Foles, I don’t think the coaching staff thought he was capable of anywhere near the type of play he showed in the playoffs. He was maybe a couple plays away from dragging the Eagles to the NFCCG this year. The Eagles and Rams are quite different

Guys were playing different positions? Wow I actually didn’t know that. I never knew how big of an impact the Butler benching had. I knew Richards and Rowe were abused and had a heck of a time with their big and talented WRs. I’m not so sure this Rams team is quite like the ‘01 version. That was a record setting offense with the league MVP at QB. Faulk was maybe the best offensive player in the game and they just lit teams up, especially in domed stadiums. I’d say this year’s Chiefs and the 2016 Atlanta Falcons were better comparisons. This year’s Rams are definitely a very good team, but not at 2001 level imo. But I guess you weren’t comparing them, just saying that the strategy should be similar lol. Realized that after I typed it out. I do think you’re right, that’s a solid strategy, physicality.

The flu has been on a path of destruction on the west coast in the last month. I don't know if it's part of it, but also a horrific stomach bug has been going around. If the Rams caught these, that's bad news for them.

Regards,
Chris

Mind games bro ignore the noise.
We need our best game to beat the Rams.

I don't think it will happen but man I'd love to be on the right side of a Super Bowl blowout. Just being able to soak it in and enjoy and relish every second of that clock ticking down...

Key to this game is Patriots being able to contain the Rams running game. If Gurley and Anderson early on are getting 5 or 6 yards a crack, it will be extremely hard to defend against play action and misdirection. I am hoping the Pats can come up with a good scheme to contain the run. Most of the season they had trouble with it (recall Steelers game).

Encouraging that they only allowed 2.8 ypc in the playoffs.

That's really the most important key for BOTH teams. If the Patriots are successful running the ball, they will win. Barring some flukiness like 5 tos or something.
If Rams can run, doesnt guarantee a win, but greatly increases their chances.

What’s this about Gurley being at stripe clubs?

@ChrisR2223 posted this on Monday:

My boy Albert A Jets fan is in Atlanta for the Superbowl he ran into Gurley at a strip club this morning Gurley was drunk as hell at about 3am when my friend tried to talk to him he ran out leaving his area a mess my friend said.
Hope he keeps that laser focus up until the big game.
He keeps sending me pictures of Patriots he's right there at media day says Slater is a nice dude.
I keep living thru him waiting on pics.
