Much is being made of Brady's torrid completion percentage to start the season, obliterating the prior record of 74-100.

But look whose record he broke. It was jointly held by Jeff George and Dave Krieg.

That's not exactly Mount Olympus he's scaled with that particular stat, nor even Mount Ossa. More like Mount Lessthanitseemis

Not to take anything away from his phenomenal performance, but that one particular stat seems a bit overrated.

You know what's strange? If Brady wins his next two games, he'll also tie another publicized record: 79 wins in his first 100 games started.

IIRC some guy from the Naval Academy originally, what was his name Staubach????

George and Krieg were pretty good QBs. Not HoFers, but we're not talking Kelly Holcombs here.

They both have higher career passer ratings than John Elway.

Excuse me. Is this a troll post, or what?

Of ALL the great QB that have ever played this game (Montana, Manning, Bradshaw, Marino........... blaa, blaa, blaa) all got the same opportunity to toss thier first 100 passes in EVERY season they played. NONE of them ever completed more then 74 passes in all those trys.

Brady shattered the record by 5 completions. It's not the all time TD record or anything, but its not what I would call overrated.

This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've EVER heard. By your moronic logic, the next guy that gets 337 receiving yards in a game is "no big deal" since the record is only held by Willie Anderson (Rams), instead of Rice, Moss, TO, ect......

Sorry dude, you're entitled to your opinion, but downplaying any over time record like this is silly

I could not agree more. At the risk of getting OT, I guess now we know why no pitcher wants to throw three no-hitters in a row, since that record is held only by Johnny Van De Meer. Or, toss a perfect game in the Series, after all, its not like Don Larsen is in the HOF.

I'd like to see which years George and Kreig did that in. They both had some very good years.
Brady beat it by 5, which is a TON. Look at it hthis way. The fewest INcompletes in the first 100 passes was 26, ever by any QB, and Brady had only 21.
The key of course, is whether its just a few unbelievably good games, or something that is going to carry on.

Remember, you could have ONE day of something like 33-37 then be a 65% passer the other 3 and be 74-100. Brady has been consistently between 75 and 80% for all 4 games. I'd guess George or Krieg probably had 1 or 2 'career' games that influenced the first 4.

Add in the number of normal drops....it's not like his receivers have caught everything thrown their way. This is an impressive record.

Tough to say something is overrated when hardly anyone is talking about it... it was little more than a throwaway line on ESPN during the final moments of a 3 TD blowout... nobody's making a big deal about it so it can't really be overrated...

This kid I met in college waited in line for Jeff George's autograph....only to rip it up in his face right after he signed it.

to this day, its the greatest athlete dis I've ever heard of.

Too bad about him, Bledsoe and a lot of other QBs said that he threw the perfect ball, just didn't always call the plays that were sent in from the coaches.

He also tied the record for consecutive games over 75% completion rate, held by Kurt Warner and Carson Palmer.

Is that better?

He's only one completion under 80%, so if he is one completion over 80% this week his completion percentage for the year will be 80%.

That would be 76 out of 100, not 79.

2001 - 11 wins
2002 - 9
2003 - 14
2004 - 14
2005 - 10
2006 - 12
2007 - 4 thus far
-----
74 thus far

Roger Staubach has the record at 76.

That's fantastic. Why did this person hate George so much? I heard he was a ****, but I never thought he was that bad.
