I don't really get your point. He rode Michel in the first half until the Chiefs started to use stouter fronts and made the run game less effective. Again, as long as Michel is (for whatever reason) not trusted in pass pro means he is mostly in on run downs. Sometimes Brady checks to a throw based on the favorable look they get because the other teams also know the Pats tendencies.

Once the Chiefs switched their defense up front we attacked them differently with more passes and some hurry up and that means less Michel.

Add in that people saw him leaving with a limp on his final snap and there you go.

Luuked - Go back and look at the play-by-play. I don't mean them taking Michel out on 3rd down for White. I mean them giving Michel 2-3 plays and then subbing in Burkhead despite there having been 7 plays in total. Then they went to Burkhead to start the 2nd series. Yes, they went back to Michel after several plays, but it still felt like they don't let Michel really built up a rhythm.

I didn't notice a huge change in the KC defensive front, other than bringing a LB down next to the DE, but I was at the bar and not able to pay a lot of attention to substitutions by KC.

I thought I heard Romo mention around the start of the second half that they were playing bigger dudes now. Since it coincided with the run game losing a bit of efficiency I assumed that what happened.

I personally don't have an issue with that. Because one of the things that McDaniels when he has it going really is masterful at is never letting the opponents get comfortable so he likes to change the pace or type of calls often.

Michel still ended up with almost 20 carries in the first half. Which for a rookie is a ****ton. I trust that they know what they are doing and as Sony goes through a proper NFL offseason he will be able to handle more next year by becoming stronger and bigger.

You know it is like the 4th & 1 with Burkhead. I didn't like that he got the ball but I understand why he was on the field. He is a better runner than White but also trusted in pass-pro / out in patterns. So this way Brady had the option to check to a pass.

Do the coaches nail the right mix of personnel and scheme all the time ? No of course not. But at this point I have grown to trust them a lot. But, hey, I get what you are saying it is just that I think Michel is physically not there yet AND also not trusted enough to be more than the one dimensional back that he is and sometimes you need more.

When people say "it's all gravy" I don't underatand.

This win was a mega legacy booster.

Years down the line, having this feather in cap is sweet..up and coming star beaten in his place.

A little commented on moment. End of the first half - Pats had run twice and had 3rd down in their territory. Chiefs called TO with 1:11 left. New England looked set to let clock run. Pats get a first down on the next play and ended up ahead 14-0 at half instead of 7-0. Big swing

That is the one right after the INT where I thought we lost Jules for the game. Underrated moment that he got up from that unshaken.

KC - had
I honestly hate how McDaniels does the rotation with the RBs. He never seems to let Michel get any sort of rhythm going and I feel it hurt them tonight.
DB he GOT 19 first half carries and TWENTY NINE in all. How much rhythm does he need. Any more and he would have needed intravenous. Any more rhythm and the Pope would have been needed for dispensation. ;)

That hit looks worse that it is because most of it is Edelman seeing it coming and falling backward. If he didn't... well, he might even be out for the Super Bowl. That was definitely an attempted cheap shot.

You can pause the GIF by clicking on it. His head gets knocked back first and then he falls down.

It's 110% correct. If that wasn't the case, Edelman wouldn't have been planting his foot into the ground and stopping before the KC player flew into the screen. That's what he's doing. Watch the GIF and you'll see it. If you don't see it then, watch it again. Watch it again after that if you need to. That's the beauty of a GIF.

He was getting low to take the hit, he didn't fall back to avoid it. Just pause it or find an app that can play it frame by frame.

What? He planted his foot and began to fall backward. That was my original point. Whether he did it to avoid the hit or soften it doesn't really matter. He fell backward. Therefore, the hit looks worse than it was or could have been. Believe me, had he not done that, he's probably out cold on the field.

From what I see he's trying to stop and get low. He gets knocked backwards with the forearm to the head is what I see. I think He's trying to go down to the ground but there's no time to react. I don't think he's trying to fall down backwards.

They're the same thing in this case. He had enough time for his brain to process what was about to happen, plant, and start to fall backwards. It lessened the hit quite a bit. Without that, he's out of the game and likely in concussion protocol.

I'll just say crouching and falling backwards are not the same thing.
