AFC Championship: We are on to Kansas City!

Flores should focus on keeping Mahomes in the pocket. In week 6, he was more dangerous when he rolled out of the pocket when his first and second read wasn’t there. He is patient and buys time to find someone open. It’s also important to not be down early because KC can ride the crowd to a win. I’ve seen many of these road games playoff and regular season to know that. Mahomes is very capable of owning us like manning did in 06 and 13.

If you rush for 194 and Brady rushes 14 times and throws for 147 yards, I will be one happy dude. That's not the way you'll beat us.

From my seat, I would take the Baltimore stat a little differently.

The Chiefs gave up 194 yards rushing to a team, while good/great at running the ball (although they couldn't run on the Chargers, while the Pats put up a buck 55 on em) are extremely limited in terms of passing the ball given Jackson's abilities at this point in his maturation.

194 yards given up when you should be able to stuff the box with 8+ as there isn't much threat of being gashed by the pass is troubling (although not predictive of anything).

I think the Pats are 10-0 when they run for 100 yards in a game this season.

Line is currently Chiefs at +1. In other words, the experts seem to think this is a toss up. I am very surprised that so many people (experts) are picking the Saints based on the "dome"factor. Home field didn't help the Saints to start the Eagles game. And they beat Pittsburgh at home, aided by a few huge PI calls. But I haven't seen enough from the Saints for experts to totally dismiss the Rams due to HFA.

I’m still seeing Pats +3

I think Andy reid must come up with different routes everytime he plays us. BB has certainly gotten the better of Reid in certain games but his teams put up 40+ points against us.

The question is: which team has been more mistake-prone this year? My impression is that it has been the Patriots, which is uncharacteristic for a Belichick team.

I don't know what you count as "mistakes". Both the Chiefs and Patriots have almost the identical turnover numbers (both: against and for). Maybe your opinion here comes from the fact that you have seen all Pats games but not really that many KC games (except for highlights).

I’m sorry Brady ain’t Lamar Jackson...

Exactly. That's my point. Jackson was their leading rusher. You're gonna give up more yards rushing when Jackson is at quarterback than Flacco. So saying they couldn't run the ball on the Patriots is irrelevant. Flacco busted your balls for 324 yards, but didn't run the ball but one time. The Ravens model for playing the Chiefs is not what the Patriots are gonna do.

Probably. I am thinking about the Lions game, end of Miami game, Brady at halftime at Heinz, end of the half last week, the blown coverage on Allen last week, giving up a 67-yard and then a 75-yard TD to the Chiefs...

That blown coverage last week was your first team AP CB1 seeing something he caught on tape. That is different than actually blowing coverages due to miscommunication or being in the wrong play. It might seem like semantics to you but it is a huge difference to me.

I am sure we will find enough details to nitpick if we got through the 2014 and 2016 SB winners. Don't expect perfection but making fewer mistakes than the opponent.

The Chiefs are the most penalized team in the NFL this year. Both in number of penalties and yards, which is uncharacteristic for us. But they haven't seemed to come at critical times, and for the most part we've been good at long down and distance. Special teams have been good and we haven't turned the ball over a lot. But there's bright lights Sunday. And it's our first time in a long long time. Hopefully they handle it. Clearly it's old hat for Brady and co.

Correct. But the home team automatically gets two points. So Vegas is really saying Pats + 1. Which is a pick em.

It is a 3 point advantage not 2 points advantage. To Vegas this game is literally a pick'em.

Lamar Jackson was NOT their leading rusher. He had as many rush yards as Gus Edwards. The chiefs gave up 126 yards on 24 carries, which is 5.25 YPC, to their RBs.

Right (but I think it’s usually 3 points) Can’t bet on that though unless you play a teaser.

I'm sorry. He was tied for the leading rusher. And he carried the ball 14 times. He was a big part of their rushing offense. And he didn't play against you guys. You are not going to follow that model.

Not counting the Chiefs, the last 6 games of the season, the Ravens rushed for 267, 242, 207, 242, 159 and 296. They changed completely. And we held them better than most.

Channel 5 just said "about a foot" for Sunday...****, they really screwed themselves w that Miami game

Don’t worry, based on some people here the Pats might actually be better off on the road!

I’m hoping they will gameplan Hightower to Blitz a lot or have him coming off the edge. I want us to be constantly putting pressure on Mahomes and hitting him. What we done to the chargers id love to see the disruption from the DL.

The one thing we need to make sure is that we don’t let Mahomes roll out to his right as he’s unbelievable on some of his throws from there. Mainly to Hill when the coverage has broken down.

On December 16th, Jim Nantz & Tony Romo broadcasted the Steelers win over the Patriots. One week later, the Steelers season virtually ended with a loss in New Orleans. Romo & Nantz broadcasted that game (Dec 23). On December 30th, Romo & Nantz broadcasted the Ravens division clinching win over Cleveland. One week later, they were in the broadcast booth when the Chargers ended the Ravens season. On January 13th, Romo & Nantz broadcasted the Chargers playoff loss to the Pats. January 20th??

Moral of the story: Romo & Nantz are in the broadcast booth when a team gets a big win. But they are also in the broadcast booth when said team's season ends a week later. I knocked on wood. Also prayed. So there's a chance we don't suffer the same fate as Pittsburgh, Baltimore, & the Chargers.
