Fwiw, I think the improved secondary play is mostly at CB. That’s why I mentioned Boyer.

They played some bad offenses: Bills twice, Jets, the dysfunctional Vikes. Count Miami and Tennessee, where they played poorly, those are 6 games against some of the worst offenses in the league.

They played pretty well against GB and Pitt. Not sure two good games is convincing enough.

And I'm not sure that two bad games are convincing enough in the other direction.

The Vikes' offense was considered at least a bit of a challenge before the game, and that was also Jackson's first start (89% of the D-snaps). The Pats D held them to 10 points.

Meanwhile, against the Jete and Jills bad offenses, the Pats D gave up a total of 34 points in those four games ... 8.5 points per game ... pretty much what I'd expect a good defense to do.

The addition of Jackson as a starter on one boundary, moving JMac to slot (replacing Jon Jones), has certainly had a huge effect, but the defensive "victories" @BUF (6 points), v. GBY (17 points), and @NYJ (13 points) happened before that.

It's arguable whether or not safety play, by itself, improved over that period. It could be simply a case of better CB play taking pressure off the safeties.

Kraft values Josh greatly because Tom does and BB and Tom werent Bffs at the time.
