Kliff Kingsbury wants to pursue NFL job

Not really because I signed a contract and gave my word.
My employer would not be wrong to expect me to honor that word.

It’s like saying a week after getting married I can screw around in my wife, make a false anonymous complaint to her employer to get her fired and change the locks in the house.
That’s my choice to make too but I’d be a scumbag.

Yeah it’s not like that at all. Crazy to me that you even went there with that comparison.

But USC should care about USC shouldn’t they?
I mean why would any company hire a guy then let him interview elsewhere if they can prevent it.
I think everyone realizes interviewing him as HC is just a ruse to try and bring him to the nfl as OC or QB coach.

They would let him go for the same reason most colleges let coaches leave: recruiting. It's hard to sell recruits on a OC that wanted to get another job and you're forcing him to stay, and every team recruiting against USC will use that against them.

I’d love to see Klingsbury end up as OC here, and I’d say that even if Skippy weren’t leaving on his own to fail somewhere else.

I don't follow college football much and I'm not familiar with him. It doesn't seem he did well at Texas Tech. I know he did well with Johnny Manziel, but his game largely improvising and thriving on broken plays.

Could someone explain why he's such a hot commodity? Why would the Patriots be interested in him rather than promoting from within assuming the reports are correct.

It’s a job. I’m pretty sure the contract he signed at SC didn’t have a till death do you part clause in it.
No it had a financial buyout that he can pay if he wants to dishonor it.

By the way it’s called an anolgy not an “example that is exactly the same in every way so any difference invalidates it being analogous.”

Huh?
Teams asked permission to interview Kingsbury and USC said nah, we just hired him.
I don’t know how that would hurt recruiting.

If Kingsbury wants another job he can quit and buy out his contract.
USC should not sit around paying him and allowing other organizations to interview him.
What if it was Alabama? Should they say sure go interview, see if you like it better there, we will sit here and hold the bag.

Im just saying your analogy was way out of whack. Could’ve been we got married, now I want a divorce to explore other opportunities and am willing to settle this monetarily and we can go our seperate ways.

No it was an analogy of making a commitment and then INMEDIATELY bailing on it.
There is no monetary settlement. If there were permission wouldn’t be needed Kingsbury would resign and buy it out.

Perhaps a better analogy would be getting married then saying, a month later, by the way I’m going to start dating to see if like anyone else better, but if it falls through I’m committed to you.
But I need you to consent to that and agree if I leave there are no financial repercussions.

Out of curiosity you wouldn’t happen to be an SC fan?

Manziel went to A&M.

If Kingsbury has no interest in another job, there's no need for USC to deny a request for an interview. Kliff himself could tell the requesting team no thanks. If he is interested in looking around, then of course that will be used against USC in recruiting. Teams will use anything negative they can.
