Meh. I don't see how the NFL would want to miss out on seeing another amazing QB duel like Brady vs Brees in the Superbowl! Don't even get me started if it somehow ended up being Pats vs Rams! There would be a million storylines going into that one! Mahomes so far has been a great story for the NFL this season! Funny you mention Mahomes vs Watson! The owners hate the Pats. They hate Brady, after they spend gobs of draft capital on QBs that suck and he is still chugging along. So no, the can drum up any storyline they want. Well, to be fair, Aaron's next 4th quarter comeback against a winning team will be his first.

By 07, the passing bubble was already very much inflating. I think the rules changed sometime around 04/05 when Ty Law was too rough on the Colts receivers.
