???
Mingo worked out very well. He was a very good STer for us.

If that is the max that you think he was able to achieve then sure. I thought he could have become much more and stayed with the team. I am not saying it was a bad acquisition but when he became a Patriot I had higher hopes than "merely" ST player given his physique.

I don't know, but not really 1 position (CB, S, ST). I'd be surprised if they don't add Dawson.

Doesn't Dawson have another week left to Practice I think??

That’s still a wow it’s a 5th of the roster.

Have they ever carried that many players at 1 position?

Counting special-teamers, they've had 9 to 11 (nominal) DBs on the roster several times in the past. Kick and punt coverage units are typically almost entirely defensive players (experienced tacklers), and most of those are DBs (faster downfield).

Also, DBs get hurt a lot. IIRC, 4-5 years ago, the Rams had all four of their original starting DBs, plus seven reserves and recently signed replacements, on IR by the end of the season.

The next most oft-injured position group is OL, btw.

Is 10 too many? We play SEVEN in a game, 4 corners and 3 safeties. One backup corner, and one backup safety is certainly NOT too much, even if they are inactive.

So, the OPEN question is whether the value of Crossen as a developmental corner.

Crossen
Jones
Jackson
Gilmore
Dawson
Obi
Harmon
Chung

Wow..that’s quite a few DBs

Well, it could be something like Ebola. In which case, I'd rather trade him to the Steelers.
Good point. If we traded him within the division, Ebola would improve all those teams.

Wonder which of Grissom/Croston makes it to the PS given the one spot. Grissom may be past the point of eligibility, not sure.

It's clear to me that they've been grooming Grissom for the Ray Ventrone role. He'll be a rich man by the time he retires, having made his fortune in $50,000 signing bonuses.

Seems to me that Crossen is at least a legit ST contributor, and a possible candidate to inherit a gunner role from Slater, King or Ebner (not a bad career path). If he develops into a legit DB, that's a bonus, IMHO.

With the 6 moves today, I have the Pats with 1 roster spot on the 53 and 1 on the practice squad not filled.

No one has been posting offensive, defensive and ST reps lately.

How many ST's units has Crossen been playing over the past few games?

Surprised about Croston over Ferentz move. Hopefully very temporary esp. in relation to Mason's inj. The way Pats are operating we can be happy it was not Mason on IR..

He was backing up a DE rotation of Nink, Long, Flowers and Sheard, and just didn't have enough to crack that lineup (and no one go hurt).
