College Football Thrillers

If you watched that game, you saw an incredible game, and Tom Brady’s eventual replacement in Will Grier win it on an amazing, clutch TD pass with 16 seconds left, and a ballsy 2 point conversion via a run. Very accurate, runs a complicated offense at West Virginia, can make every NFL throw. Will be a 24 year old rookie in the NFL next year though. But watch this throw to get to within 41-40. He subsequently runs a 2 point conversion to win it. This was an amazing game.

Without getting into strengths/concerns etc unless he plays right away teams don't draft 24 yo to sit for 3-4 years which might be the case here.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised to see Kontra include Michigan in that list, too. He must be sold on the defense. In my opinion, Michigan may not even beat OSU in Columbus, and the Buckeyes are a highly flawed team. I think Bama would steamroll the Wolverines.
I agree Michigan doesn't get out of Columbus, and yeah they would totally be rolled by the Tide. Of course, this year, I think everyone gets rolled by the Tide..... Quite honestly I think they should just give Alabama the trophy right now and we can enjoy watching everyone else fight for #2.... Clemson sure looked good yesterday so maybe they could give Alabama a run for their money.... ND is good, but just not at that level.... OU may sneak into that #4 spot by the time all is said and done.....

Clemson is the best match-up for them because they can contain Bama on defense and they can score on them. I would say Georgia too but it depends on which Fromm shows up. Michigan would keep the game tight but after what I saw from Bama last night on defense (which is better than what they’ve done all year), I have zero confidence in Michigan putting up more than 10 points. The defense would eventually tire.

Problem is when i try and get advice online about which games to watch they always spoil it by having the final score in bold next to the teams.
Can anyone recommend any games that are worth watching. Doesnt have to be bowl games just as long as its just a date and the teams involved without the final score or winner.
From Wiki:

On November 13, 1993, the unbeaten Florida State Seminoles faced the unbeaten Notre Dame Fighting Irish in what was dubbed The Game Of The Century. The game took place at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Florida State entered the game as the #1 team in the country, led by quarterback Charlie Ward who would go on to win the Heisman Trophy that season. Notre Dame came into the game ranked #2 in the country. Though Notre Dame was home they entered the game as the underdog to a powerful Bobby Bowden-led Florida State Squad. Notre Dame was led by head coach Lou Holtz. This was the fourth time that Notre Dame had taken part in a Game of the Century. Notre Dame's 1935 showdown with Ohio State was their first appearance in one of these historic games. Their 1946 match up against the Army Black Knights was the second instance and their 1966 match up against the Michigan State Spartans was the third.

Notre Dame outplayed Florida State the entire game to the tune of a 31–17 lead in the fourth quarter. The offense had hung its shoulders around their junior back Lee Becton who had yet another 100+ yard afternoon. With 1:39 left, Ward drove Florida State down the field and hit Kez McCorvey on 4th-and-20 for a touchdown. The pass bounced off of Notre Dame safety Brian McGee and into McCorvey's hands. Notre Dame then went three-and-out on their next possession, giving Florida State one last shot. In just three plays, Ward led Florida State to the Notre Dame 14 with three seconds to play. On the last play of the game, Ward rolled out and had his final pass attempt batted down by Notre Dame cornerback Shawn Wooden, giving the Irish a 31–24 victory.

Notre Dame found itself atop of the polls after the victory, and would only need to defeat #12 Boston College in the next week to earn a berth in the Fiesta Bowl. Its opponent in the Fiesta Bowl would be Florida State, which only dropped to #2 in the polls.

Only a year earlier, Notre Dame won their fourth match in the "Holy War" with BC without a loss, 54-7, also at South Bend. Though ranked #12 in the nation, BC wasn't considered a huge obstacle, and most considered an ND victory a mere formality.

Coach Tom Coughlin, the BC players, alumni and fans had other ideas that day.

I will not spoil the outcome for you; do not read the comments, obviously.

Enjoy

Let me know when you finish, and I'll give you a postscript.

I agree Michigan doesn't get out of Columbus
This could be the year they do, but I think the uncertainty against a weaker team like OSU makes a game like Alabama look practically impossible, that’s all.

Sure, but if we drafted Grier in April as suggested, he’d have just turned 24 in the beginning of the month.

Also, if we assume that Brady will play this year, 2019, and 2020, that still only means that Grier sits for his first two years, and that’s fairly standard practice here in NE. When you have him for a potential length of 5 years on a rookie pact, learning behind Brady for the first couple of seasons may not be a bad way to start him off.

Yea it's not impossible, just not the norm & that's assuming Brady is done after 2020.

I haven’t seen anything that indicates Ohio state will beat Michigan. I mean sometimes things get crazy in these rivalry games, but when you analyze this game based on matchups, there is 0 reason to believe Ohio state would win.

Depends on which OSU team shows up, but they usually make it tough in Columbus.

I haven’t seen anything from tOSU that shows me they can run the ball or get a meaningful stop. I mean, if Michigan is stopping the run with 6 or 7 guys which is a legitamate possibility with ohio states pedestrian run blocking, I think Ohio state is in bad shape. Michigan to me just clearly looks like a better team, but... rivalry game. Ohio state would have show something I haven’t seen all year

It’s probably the same team that showed up against Nebraska.

I think the product will be improved from the past couple of games based on the rivalry aspect alone. The big question will be whether or not they are closer to the team that played well and was ranked #3 a few weeks ago, or if they’re closer to the team that we’ve seen recently.

I think they are flawed, possibly highly flawed, but I don’t think they’re quite as bad as they’ve looked lately.

Yes I agree this is the year they stand a chance. I know I'll be picking OSU in that game, but it's hardly the 100% certainty we've seen in the past.

Quite honestly, I think the 2 teams are very much on the same level this year for the first time in the Harbaugh regime. I'm taking OSU based primarily on HFA; if the game was in the Big House, I'd probably lean Michigan.

Ohio states been smoke and mirrors all year. The flaws we see now have been present all year

What have you seen that makes you think they are on the same level. Michigan to me just clearly looks like a better team. And it’s not really close IMO

Agreed. They may not get past @Michigan State on Saturday, although I’m not sure how much clarity that brings to an attempt to predict a rivalry game against UM which happens to take place in Columbus, that’s all.

After this past Saturday’s results, so many people began to bet UM that they’re now actually -3.5 road faves against OSU in the early line betting at one sportsbook cited in this FanDuel article.
