Rumor: Pats discussed reacquiring Jamie Collins

I get it he gave up the TDs in the 2015 AFC Championship game but no one remembers anything else about that game from Collins? 2 sacks, 3 Tackles for loss, 2 QB hits & led the team in tackles that game. Only the bad makes memories i guess

FWIW, Collins remaining 2018 salary would hit the Pats' cap for $2.52M.

His 2019 & 2020 cap hits - salary + roster & workout bonuses - would be $10.5M & $12.5M, respectively. However, NONE of that is guaranteed. The Pats could cut Collins after the season for ZERO dead money.

Collins was solid here wouldn't mind the rental if he plays really well a possible restructure after.

"Rumor" is the operative word, perhaps this rumor is unfounded and only laid out there to drive up his value.. if the Pats are interested he might be worth more than advertised...

No

Red stars don’t ever fly. They fade out or super novae , either way it’s over

It's pretty obvious. Collins can cover as he has shown us in the past. A physically athletic LB with coverage ability is something we badly need.

But he free lanced and got beat in coverage a couple of times.

Selective amnesia seems to make this board go 'round...we are so friggin spoiled as Pats fans.

Collins was an absolute Stud here.

Mcourty can takes plays off and he is Elite like Ed Reed.

The game boils down to a few plays in big games.

A stop on a crucial 3rd down can be the turning point in a big game. A sack or strip fumble. Impact plays.

Can Collins bring that? Yes he can.

I dont want to spend a high draft pick on a 30+ year old WR in his golden years.

Collins likely comes on the cheap from GM Dorsey who has been a good trading partner with NE. Dorsey would be doing Pittsburgh no favors trading Collins back to NE. Its doubtful that the Browns are going to make the post season and time to look ahead for Cleveland.

A huge plus is that Collins already knows the NE defense. If the Browns can eat some of his cap hit and blame it on previous Browns GM Sashi Brown, Id jump on this deal.

Collins was a Beast in the NE defense.

He would be making plays again in a short time back with BB using his skills.
Towards the end he wasn't.

He can also bring giving up huge plays in big moments (SB49, 2015 AFCCG)

Talent-wise, he’d be a big upgrade - flaws and all. The Pats LB corps is so bad that even a guy like Collins, gifted but prone to errors, would be a significant improvement

That said, it doesn’t make sense financially so I suspect this is just BS

Agreed, I can remember at least 2 huge plays in sb49 that he gave up, the russell wilson long scramble and gets out of bounds right before half, and then the big pass to lynch on Seattle’s last drive. Aside from kyle arrington he might have been our biggest detriment that game.

All we got for him was a 3rd, so how much are we willing to give up for him?
