Cooks is on pace this year for about 1350 yards and 75 catches - with his 3rd QB in 3 years. It will be (as mentioned) his 4th season in a row over 1000 yards and he is only 25. Imagine him on a team where there are not multiple weapons.

Let's not start acting like Cooks is Chris Hogan here.

Not?

Moss, but that is almost an unfair comparison.

Ehhh. IDK. McD has mentioned on more than one occasion that he significantly simplified the offense for both Moss and Welker in the early part of the season and added things in gradually as the season progressed

In other words, Josh screwed up the greatest offense of all time by over analyzing it. Makes perfect sense because that’s Josh’s MO.

With those three teams being the most conducive places to be a WR in. I mean lets not pretend he played for the Titans, Cardinals and Bills. Playing for Sean Peyton, Josh McDaniels and Sean McVay kinda tends to work out for gifted players.

IDK. There weren't too many defenses that "solved" that offense, even later in the season. And by "solved", I mean, kept the Pats under 30 points.

The Colts in wk-9 (24 pts), the Ravens in wk-13 (27), the Jets in their wk-15 rematch (20 v 38 the first time around), the Fins in their wk-16 rematch (28 v 49 the first time), the Chargers in the AFCCG (21), and then the Gints in their rematch in the SB (14 v 35 in wk-17).

Yeah I’d say you’re right...I was being maybe half tongue-in-cheek there

He's having a hell of a year. Great receiver, just not the best fit for our offense. Even then 1000+ yards is nothing to sneeze at.

Gordon's two games as a starter:

9 receptions 142 yards 15.8 YPC
1 PI 37 yards

When everything clicks he honestly looks like Andre Johnson out there at times. Such a steal & a gift as a mid season pick up.

I love watching Gordon. He does so many things well and is the definition of a player who is better than his stats. Cooks is the opposite. He is worse than his stats, which is why the Saints and Patriots moved on. He’s such a liability when it comes to blocking or coming up with that difficult key play down the stretch.

I think losing Amendola was worse than losing Cooks.

I don’t think Cooks could have caught the ball where Gordon lost his helmet.

I remember somebody saying the Browns came up with the blueprint for defense's facing our offense in '07.

It really p1sses me off that Gordon can’t just get some kind of waiver with post-game pressers. I mean, is there one actually Patriots fan out there who enjoys watching this guy, who clearly doesn’t like the spotlight and almost certainly suffers from social anxiety, step up to the podium? Like we give a crap about hearing two minutes worth of canned answers and cliches. It’s disappointing but not at all surprising that the morons at the NYJFL can’t just make an exception for a variety of players.

It would be much better if they just wrote their questions and he wrote back and published the answers. The guy is really intelligent and writes well. I remember his open letter upon being suspended a few years ago, and it was really articulate.

Cooks has looked good for the Rams (cripes every time I tune into their game he's making a big play) and Gordon is working out well here. Wish we had them both, but obviously Cooks didn't work as well in our system. Too bad. Cooks, Gordon & Edelman would be awesome together on the field.

I'd heard something like that before. Apparently, most other teams didn't begin paying attention right away.

After starting the season 38-14, 38-14, 38-7, and 34-13 against the Jets, Chargers, Bills and Bengals, the Pats beat the Browns in week-5 by 34-17. The Pats then hung an average of 50 points on the 'Boys, 'Fins, and 'Skins before scoring only 24 against Dungy's Colts defense.

After the BYE, the Pats offense hung 56 on the Bills in their re-match, then averaged 31 per game the rest of the way in the regular season (including 38 on the Giants in wk-17) - the exception being in the Jets re-match when they scored only 20.

They hung 31 on the Jags in the divisional round, but then only 21 in their AFCCG re-match with the Chargers, and only 14 in their re-match with the Giants. IIRC, Spagnuolo did say mention that he noticed something coverage and pressure-related in his film review of the Pats game against the Browns that lined up with what wasn't successful for his defense in week-17. I'm not sure he went as far as calling it a "blueprint" though.
