Entering this game Kirk Cousins was 2nd in the league in passing. Smith was 28th.

I bet the Redskins want a do-over on that genius idea.

Apologies for this late take, but our local Fox station switched to the Vagiants @ Panthers game after the Philthy Iggles game ended, and I watched Saquon Barkley injure himself as he was playing the hero. The smart move would've been to fall just short of the goal line, in bounds, so that the game clock would continue to run and take precious time away from Scam Newton. The Vagiants would've had 4 chances to score a TD, and I don't think that even shEli could've blown that opportunity from inside the 1-yard-line, with or without Barkley.
The entire sequence of events that followed reminded me, very unfortunately, of what happened in Foxborough in 2011 vs those very same Vagiants, and of the consequences thereafter.

I have been a member here longer than you have. I have visited multiple sites every day for years. Brees did not ask for the game to be stopped, the the NFL and the Pro Football HOF did. But if it it makes you feel better, continue to sound off. I will not piss off.

Brees is a role model. The NFL embarrassed themselves. That was just so corny. Did they give him a certificate? Is this little league? I was embarrassed for Brees. Happy someone like him broke the record.

I just think that if you should expect one defense to be the sole factor of winning, the other defense should have to also participate. The current setup is good.

Win the flip, score a TD and you win. Score a field goal and the other team gets a chance to win.

Kickers are making 65 yard field goals now, and I'd rather not have a situation where the patriots lose in overtime because some team wins a coin toss then kicks a long field goal, because with our defense that real likely to happen.

The other defense does participate throughout the game. If neither is good enough to get the job done, you leave it up to a 50/50 chance which are about as good of odds as you'll get most avenues in life. If someone asked you if you wanted 50/50 odds that you will hit the Powerball, you'd take that in a minute. If by chance they don't win the coin toss, the defensive unit should do what it gets paid to do - stop the offense (assuming ST doesn't let up a huge return). If they can't, then they deserve to lose the game. But by all means, keep trying to find fairness in a game that is ultimately inherently unfair. We'll get to enjoy more ties.

Uh, no, we didn't. He wasn't injured and they scored what should've been the winning score if the D didn't suck and Gano doesn't kick it from the street.

Your strategy of having him falling down before he scores and assuming the TD is where things go wrong. We see it all the time when a guy just misses getting in and a team ends up with nothing due to penalties, turnovers, or just not being able to punch it in.

If you consider two playoff appearances in the last 9 years going on 10. He's only made it to the AFC title game once in 2007 which was because Billy Volek winning the game in Indy. He's had a coaching carousel when throughout his career and it usually happens because the QB doesn't do enough to win games. Unlike Rodgers, he's had plenty of talent on both sides of the ball but routinely comes up short.
