If JE plays every snap I'd be pleasantly surprised. I expect he'll get winded and need some breathers every now and then. He'll play a ton though.
He had a full camp and had no doubt been working out like a fiend.
Not sure why people think he should be held back.

He hasn't played a game in a month. If he doesn't get winded then he should play all the snaps. If hes gassed he shouldn't. Let him grab a breather and put him back in.

Hypothetically, the Pats could play him for most of the snaps tonight since he'll have a long week to recover before the KCY game.

If he plays 70 of 75 I’d consider that basically all of the snaps.

When does Edelman need to be activated by?

I don't think Andy's far off. I'd expect him to play north of 90% of the snaps tonight.

Of course but if the cat can barely breathe, is cramping and legs feel like jello, he'll have a helluva time being effective.

He goes out for a series, comes back and is good to go.

I don't see that many. I'm thinking 3/4. If he does, great.

I'd guess between 50% - 70%. Depends on the score, game situation, etc. He really hasn't played all that many games with >90% snaps. From 2013 thru 2016, he averaged 80%-88%. In 2016, it was actually 79%, game-by-game.

I just think its a lot to ask of him to play every single snap.

Who? Edelman models himself after squirrels...

To answer the question at hand, I gather his playing time will depend on how many receptions he makes and how many hits he takes.

People keep pointing to Welker being not himself immediately after coming back from injury but they fail to mention that there was only 9 months separating his injury to Week 1 2010. Edelman on the other hand has had 13 months of rehab.

True he is a bit older than Welker was though.
