Week 5: We're on to Indy

dont want to get ahead but things are stacking up nicely so far:
1. colts have to play 5 quarters on Sunday before
2. coach makes decision that puts a L in their record and demoralizes the hard play
3. they have to travel to us on short week

bonus: they're probably worried about bugs in the locker room

Even better... after this game, the Pats have a long week to prep for KC and will be able to thoroughly break down whatever Jacksonville does to Mahomes to make him uncomfortable.

I think this will be a great test for the defense. Luck just threw for 460 against a defense that people around here were shltting their pants afraid to face.
Reich will dust off his Sb game plan. I believe Belichicks #1 objective this off season was to develop a scheme to stop offenses that do to us what the chiefs and eagles did.
I’m not gonna go crazy like everyone else and say the game is over before it starts. I think we win but guaranteeing a blowout is a bit much.

Of course I was very guarded in my optimism last week; I only predicted a win of 31-13.

Need this one bad. This is our get on track game. Prediction. Both Gronk and Hilton miss this one.

I am not expecting the same kind of defensive performance but I want to see some consistency in the play from week to week. As for offense, Edelman will jump right in no problem and I expect this to be a game where Hogan gets some looks due to facing an easier CB.

We need to get this win and get all hands on deck for KC. That is a big one. If we lose to them we have given up 2 key tie breakers against arguably the two other best AFC teams right now. We can't have that.

We need KC to win against Jax, at least as far as seeding is concerned. Hopefully, KC wins in a low scoring game with Mahomes looking average but just enough to help us out.

Gronk didn't talk to the media after the game? That's not a good sign for Thursday night. Hope that ankle has a miraculous recovery.
Nah, I don't see him playing in this one, even though he could play through it, unless it is a high ankle sprain But the Pats are likely to look toward the long term and keep him out of the game and give him a full 2 weeks to get back to 100%. Could be that for THIS game, the Pats use Waddle as a TE in run formations like they with Flemming so often.

I don’t see why gronk wouldn’t play. He seemed to be dealing with the injury all game and just got pulled to preserve him when it became a blowout.

I don't expect to see Gronk but JE is back and Josh's hammy seems to be better. I was thrilled to see the Colts play a full OT yesterday. Hopefully that will affect them in the 4th quarter.

Did Luck throw longer passes yesterday or is his arm still weak?

As opposed to yesterday?

Yesterday wasn't a get back on track game. Yesterday was 'if we lose we go into full panic mode' game.

To put in in ship terms yesterday they saved the ship from sinking. Now we point the ship in the right direction and get back on target.

Just a feeling. They did the same thing last year. On a short week they may decide not to push it. It took him 7 days to look the way he looked today after injuring himself in practice. It wasn't all that good (by Gronk standards).

If they rush him back on a short week it may not have healed enough since last game and you risk aggravating it more. This would be an ideal time to give him 2 weeks to rest and get him 100% for the next push of the schedule until the bye week.

That is a really great point. I don't think we can do whatever Jacksonville will do, but they should expose something in his game and the Patriots can kind their own way of attacking it. I just hope the Jags so it without beating KC. I would hate to face them coming off a loss.

I'm always hesitant to root for things this early in the season for seeding considerations. There's just too much that can happen in the next 13 weeks, I think at this point I'd consider Mahomes coming back down to Earth a better sign than anything record related.

I don't think Gronk misses this one I think he was pulled for precautionary reasons and Game was well in hand. Great move on a short week by BB also Hollister should be back we are really wasting a roster if he cannot get on the field.

There is no reason to really believe the injury is any worse than it was before the game. I don’t believe in holding players out of games unless they can’t play.

Fair enough. It is just a feeling I have. We will know on Thursday night. If he is healthy of course I'm all for playing him. I want him out every game he can play as long as it doesn't put him at an extra unneeded risk.

Playing football comes with the risk of injury. I would never consider the risk of playing in one of 16 games when you are behind a game in your division and only 2-2 an unneeded risk at all.

It's not that he was held out of a blowout. It's that he wasn't made available to the media postgame.
