I don't know how the offense could be bad. Small slow RBs + over 30 lacrosse player at WR + an OL that can't run block = Offensive Success doesn't it?
So we’re on the same page? I don’t get it.

Moves to be made:

- Move Hightower to DE, where his speed is more of a fit, and he could become Ninkovich 2.0.

- Trade Malcolm Brown for a LB with speed and coverage skills. Maybe someone like Zach Vigil from Washington, who graded out as one of the better pass defenders at LB in the NFL last year, but isn't a starter on the Redskins.

- Promote Valentine from the practice squad to take Brown's place.

- Sign Bashaud Breeland, CB. Breeland failed a physical in the offseason but I'd at least bring him in for another look. They checked him out in August so there was at least some interest there. He can play.

- Sign Eric Reid, S. He's just 26. He's really good. The anthem thing is clearly an issue for NFL owners but my goodness, the guy is a good player and is young still and the Patriots need help at safety. Both he and Breeland are good players.

These are moves that the Pats can afford to make and I think would make the team significantly better in the aggregate.

I'd love to see Reid here. I've seen mixed feelings about Valentine, is he good? I kind of forget.

I want a stellar LB so bad.

Breeland and Reid need to be signed immediately, as does Dez.

It’s time to bring in players with actual talent.

They tried the bargain bin route and it’s failed spectacularly.

As much hate as Elandon Roberts gets around here, and much of it deserved, he has made much more of an impact than Hightower. Hightower makes Roberts look like Carl Lewis out there.

Do any capologists have an idea of what Hightower's cap hit looks like if we part ways this offseason?

McDaniels is flailing trying to make the crap talent on offense work. First, he tried forcing the ball to Patterson with gadget plays and trickery, when that proved to be a failure, he overcompensated and went to forcing Michel the ball with obvious and predictable play calls

Many OC look bad when they lack talent but McDaniels' worst tendencies always come out when he has no WR

No worries...we got two 2nds in the next draft. That should be good for two more DB'S who can't play. Heck while we're at it, why not trade out of the first and get two more 2nds. We could use four more DBs who can't play at all.

When you have DBs who can't play, you don't need any pass rushers either. I think that's the defensive model our draft room uses. Surprise them with a complete lack of talent. It's genius.

It’s going to take a while to rebuild the offensive and defensive lines and Brady’s going to be 43 by then.

At the end of the day you have to blame Bill for the debacle so far. The team was worse last night than it was last week against the Jaguars. Hard to believe, but under Belichick the Pats have always looked better after a loss. The coaching staff has always kept this team in games - last night NE was never in it. Against Jax they still had an opportunity at the end. The pats got back into it with a TD to James White and then the defense proceeded to give up another long TD drive.

The Pats were absolutely in it. Down 13-10

Reid is a very good player who, unlike Kap, seems to be getting blackballed by the NFL. (Kap was given an offer that he refused and doesn't seem content to be a backup) Valentine isn't an all pro or anything, but he's certainly adequate to replace Brown. Brown still has enough shine on him I think to net a good LB in return.

This was the first game in a long time where I had no hope at all even with the game seemingly within reach. Guys are not getting open in the passing game, few yards available in the running game, and nearly every play works against this defense.
Given the history it seems foolish to give up on this team, so I hold out some hope. These problems feel pretty serious and real though, I am scared for the rest of this season.

You think Malcom Brown could fetch a good LB? I don't think they could even get a 5th round pick for him. He's a pending FA who has been mediocre at best and is a huge part of the problem. I'd give him away TBH. Addition by subtraction.

I will say BBs decision to not pick up both brown and sheltons 5th year was his best move of a not so good offseason.

Doesn't need to be a great overall LB. Just one who is good in coverage. I gave an example of a guy from Washington who is good in coverage but is a backup. Of course, none of us knows what he could ACTUALLY fetch. But I'd try.

Semi-serious question:

If we lose to the Dolphins, do we as a fanbase transition to the equivalent of "Suck for Luck" territory.

Last thing I want to hear is what Gordon woulda shoulda coulda done...

Offense shoulda coulda moved the ball. Brady was mediocre at best. mcD was lost.

Keep Hightower off the field. He's shot.

Put in grigsby on 2nd down. Start there.

Hightower should not be playing on any down.

Brady was not good, and given the way he hangs up the deep ball these days, I'm not sure what kind of addition Josh Gordon is going to be.

Kinda nut job, even for LA..
