Purge the Doubters and Weaklings

I'll be giddy if we go 13-3. But I wouldn't sit around here expecting that just because it happened before.
This was probably an 11-5 team before the Edelman suspension, so I’m knocking it down to 10-6. That means they’d have to go 9-4 from here on out, which I think is doable.

Anyone seriously talking about 13-3 is delusional. This team isn’t going to go 12-1 down the stretch against the likes of KC, GB, etc, and they’ve only swept the division twice in the Belichick era. Going 9-4 would be impressive in my opinion.

I agree with your stance to a degree and am aware of the holes. I admit, I am a bit worried as the Lions kicked our booty and success doesn't last forever. Though I wont doubt NE til I see 1-3, 2-4 or etc. 2014/2017 Patriots give me hope.
I hope you're right. This team has earned a benefit of the doubt for at least another week. At some point, though, it is worth call this team out before the trade deadline and pushing them to either (a) bulk up the roster or (b) gut the roster. There is no point continuing forward to be average. Either swing for the fences or build for the next few seasons.

He's talking about people who think this club won't go 12-4 or better. Those people are the problems around here.

No, I am talking about the accounts that only seem to be active whenever things are going wrong but go into radio silence once the team is back on track.

The perennial doomsday posters I don't even care about anymore. Let them have their day. Every year seemed to be a disaster even though we are consistently in the AFCCG and reach a SB almost every second season. Will they finally be right this year ? Maybe, who knows.

What I do know is if you start asking those people some more in depth questions about what they are criticizing they can't answer them because they usually have no clue about the nuances of the sport they are watching but the continued success of this organization has fostered a sense of entitlement and the expectations of titles every year.

Guess what ? There are 31 other professional football teams in the league who also spend millions on research, have 53 great athletes, practice and study tape. Not every season can be a 14-2 cakewalk.

What worries me is who we have to play. A Colts team on a Thursday where anything can happen with a short week and lack of film study (though I still say Pats). A likely still hot Chiefs team in week 6. The Packers, Vikings, Steelers along with another game against the Dolphins in Miami. I'd say we lose at least 3-4 more games with this tough schedule. So 11-5 would be a reasonable ceiling. The question is what is the floor if the wheels really fall off.

I didn’t mean to call anyone out about the thread of the title. Just FWIW.

The roster has holes. I’ve broken it down and said my piece in the other threads, most notably the game day thread. In summary—The receivers blow. The LBs look slow. They won’t go anywhere without a running game, so they’ll need to make some phone calls or even promote Webb.

Look sup?? I think the adjective is are slow.

What scares me big time is the team lacks leadership and I agree with that alot. Not even Brady can push the moral up by screaming. Hoping that changes when Edelman/Gordon come. Especially Edelman. Also, Hightower appears washed.

I've been away for a bit after being active on a regular basis the past few years. I'm 34 and have been a fan through the dark ages. If you want to ask me technical questions (i.e. gatekeeping procedures), please have at it. I made a point about the roster and its structural problems. Rather than engaging with those concerns, you've tried to suggest I'm not a true (or smart) fan. I'm not sure you're acquitting your side of the argument by resorting to personal attacks. It seems ripping "doomsday posters" who have a supposed sense of entitlement is a way to avoiding grappling with their criticisms about the team's level of effort and talent.

I think it would still be competing for a WC spot at 9-7, or something like that. Let’s reassess after next week. This thought is bumming me out.

For sure. If we can pull out a win against the Dolphins, we're 2-2 and getting back Jules and seeing what we have with Gordon. A blockbuster trade or a pickup like Dez and we're back in the fold.

I dont care who you are or what you think you know. You are the one asking for a "purge" of the roster after W3 of a season.

So who do you remove ? But more importantly who do you replace them with ? What do you expect to achieve with that ? Going for a top 5 draft selection ? By "purging" you are essentially advocating to give up on a season before October starts because as bad as some players like Brown or KVN look right now you will not get any upgrades on the street.

There is absolutely zero substance in your thread here but just empty platitudes about how "some players" need to go because "they don't want to be here". BB did that to Jamie Collins and somehow still gets grilled by a certain segment of posters that overlap suspiciously well with you are writing.

If you feel so strongly about players dogging it be more specific and risk being wrong instead of being vague and hiding behind words just in case they once again turn it around.

100% agree with you. This year can be salvaged with some phone calls and a few tweaks.

Lazy garbage like that is the problem. Who are those phone calls ? What are those tweaks ? Are you just throwing **** against a wall ?

And I'd like to purge the board of the apologists who can't see this season is different.

You just said this year is salvageable with a few phone calls and tweaks. Sounds like any other September/October -- since the new CBA castrated training camps -- to me. So what is it now ? The end of the line or something that can be "fixed" ? Something different or actually the same process as in the last 7-8 years ?

Right now am at a low point on the Patriots this season, but know that BB & Krewe will not be complacent, if the problem is Donta Hightower they will sit Donta in favor of Bentley et al. One thing we do know is complacency has never been a problem for this team..

Not all that confident that a trade will make this team all that much better, what needs to change are better game plans and better in game adjustments..

One thing for sure is stay away from the conspiracy theorists and nattering nabobs of negativity on Sportstalk radio.. they will spin this everyway and anyway they can..

I predicted 8 - 8 as a joke.

I'm not laughing anymore.

I don't like this thread. It is confusing. Some people here are flipping back an forth on the same point. You can't have it both ways. Purging the players now then you have holes because where do you get better replacements NOW?

Go Pats

Miami looks tough, I agree, lets see what happens next week at home when Miami plays a pissed off Pats team.

Go Pats

Glad we're all here to talk about this c***** f*** of a roster, though.

"We" aren't.

I just clicked on this thread to gauge the level of bug-eyed hysteria and spittle-flecked recrimination. Not unexpectedly, it's cranked up to 11. Way too frantic for me. But then, I'm old.

It's sports. There are going to be losses. While I recognize that people are emotionally invested in "their team" and need to vent some disappointment and frustration, folks who can't handle the losses without totally losing their sh it might be better served by taking up a different hobby. Maybe needlepoint.

Anyway, threads like this that begin with a blanket condemnation of a significant ortion of the roster and recommend a "purge" are just useless noise to me.

I choose to ignore such noise.

I said 12-4.

I'm sticking to it until further notice.

But I sure as **** dont like what I see.

No one can get open consistently

No one can cover consistently

Cant stop the run consistently

2nd game in a row they've come out flat, like they are waiting for something to happen

This roster will be too tired...

From running the hill every damn minute.
I feel sorry for them.

The tongue lashing and laps will be horrible

BB must be livid.

I thought it was pretty telling that the only visible emotion yesterday came from a second year player who had his hand in a cast. And that was also just a short flicker. Flat as fcuk.
Deatrich Wise was about to be my new hero for a few minutes there, though. They actually cut the lead to 13-10 and they looked like an entirely different squad for a couple of possessions.
