Let the Josh Gordon era begin
Over and under staying a Pat....1st winter storm
May he...
Steer clear of Pats-certified stash cribs
Avoid the local Foxborough synthetic weed dealer
Just say no to Edelman's PEDs distributor
Follow a snow plow to Gillette on snowy mornings
Turn off Squeaky and the Douche sports talk
Throw highly acidic tomatoes at Magic Hands Guerrero if he approaches with a concussion water gift basket and $5 off TB12 coupons.

Did you really understand the trade when you originally popped off and then started insulting everyone about the Pats trying to get an elite WR for pretty much a 5th which would end up more or less nothing if the guy flamed out?
He does. He just comes and trolls the board calling the FO stupid and on drugs and riles up the fan base.

lol you sound like jack bauer. hes a clown to.
Come on now, fight nice.

After last night's debacle, I'll take any change.
We need big , physical anybody's to crush, kill destroy.

Out of all of our possibilities, talent, $ wise, I'll take a chance.

Its official.. I fear Lombardi is right about him, hasn't been able to get his life together so far, probably won't make it this time either. That said, i am supporting him from now on.

Holy sh*t what a talent. Behind Gronk probably most talented offensive player we have has since Moss.
I would support him before " from now on. " I think everyone who is legitimately trying to beat addiction (hopefully he is) deserves that.

Some interesting Gordon facts. In week 1 he played 69 of 89 snaps. He was targetted 3 times and got 1 TD for 17 yards. He got that catch matched up against a backup CB and didn't get any separation. Granted he made a great catch over his head. But it makes you question how much is there at this point and how far he is from being 2013 Josh Gordon.

I watched his snaps from last season. He looked good during his first two games back but looked sluggish during the last few. But they still bracket covered him with a safety over the top at times.

We'll see. Just hope he can stay clean.

Was against the signing but now that he's here hoping for the best.

Heehee. To be fair, plenty complained about some (all) of those as well......

Fair. But only Richards was a reach. Even Tavon Wilson wasn't a big surprise. Gordon is a game changer, 35 spots is nothing. If they cut him will cost them nothing. I am happy they are trying to improve.

As much as I liked the Coleman potential (development) I think they feel Britt or even Matthews is more valuable. Gordon, JE, Hogan, Dorsett, Britt, CP as as good as it gets firing on all cylinders.

Yeah, I'm still holding out hope for Matthews. He's working out with Edelman, hasn't signed anywhere else, and if the early reports on the injury were true he should be able to play soon-ish. It sure seems like he's on the shadow roster, and will likely be back and contributing as soon as he's healthy enough to do so.

Yes, I think they are shadow rostering these 2 and I think we will see at least one of them back on the team fairly soon. Matthews has been very productive when healthy.

Absolutely. I meant strictly in a football sense.

Never said he was washed up. I am simply curious how far removed he is from his 2013 form. As far as the TD in week one... i don't know what you're talking about. He gets the outside sure, but he never got even a half step of separation up the field. Let alone a step and a half. He MAY have had separation on other plays, but i didn't get to watch the game. I would be curious if we could find a video showing all his routes for that game and how he did.

I do think we can question how much straight line speed is there at this point. He had a good game last season vs Pitt but on the one really big play he makes when he gets behind people we can't really tell if he out ran his guy or if it was a break down in coverage. Also while you criticize Kizer it is worth noting Tom Brady couldn't have thrown that one big pass any better than Kizer did. Even bad QBs can make a few amazing passes or have a few amazing games.

in 2017 he got 18 catches for 335 yards but it took 42 targets to do it. Is that on the QB or was he not getting open a lot? I have no idea honestly.

I am not saying he can't potentially be good. I am certainly not saying he is washed up. I'm saying I don't know how good he will be. He almost certainly won't be prime Josh Gordon. I think he will give the Patriots something. I just don't know what yet and i'm not going to get my hopes up.

To put it purely as a statistical thing how many yards can we expect out of him? 300? 500? 800? 1200? I don't have any idea. I hope a lot but I just don't know how much is there at this point.

Generally speaking, you don't see WRs get much separation in the red zone. The field is too condensed: corners play tight coverage because the safeties don't have nearly as much ground to cover, and therefore can help further up. With that in mind, it's actually pretty impressive how much separation Gordon got immediately off the line. Absent a major coverage breakdown, you'll rarely see WRs get more open than that in the red zone. I think the end of the play undersells how open he was, because Taylor delivered a crap pass that forced Gordon to come back to it and make a contested catch. A well-delivered ball with that release off the line = just about the easiest pitch and catch TD you'll see an NFL offense make in the red zone against even remotely competent coverage.

Great deal, we need more help at receiver

If he doesn’t work out we can opt not to resign him and some other team will over pay him and we will end up with a 5th round compensatory pick. We win no matter what...

Have you changed your opinion of Gordon in the last couple hours?

No, it hasn’t. I think he’ll disappoint, and anyone who knows about addiction realizes this is a disease and not something you can just will away. I’m still not sold on his physical skills either; that catch showed no separation. The market says it all: a 5th round (maybe less) pick for a guy who is 27 and has essentially two more team friendly years on his contract.

For the Patriots, however, he may improve the offense, since I’ve been saying all offseason that Britt, Patterson, Dorsett, etc. are all band aid solutions, bargain bin guys, and if one of the three is even adequate I’ll take it (Dorsett has been the guy so far.). Brady might make Gordon a real option by his powers alone, but it’s more likely he is vastly disappointed with Gordon’s lack of discipline and focus.

Bottom line, if their receiver situation wasn’t terrible, I don’t think they make this trade. But it’s a fifth round pick, and it’s not like they’re selling the farm for him. I’m not disappointed in the trade but skeptical it will work out. That’s about what you typically get for a fifth round draft pick.
