Another reason why the conspiracy driven local sportstalk radio sucks, I find myself over time listening less and less.. from the rantings early in the morning, to Bertram spouting conspiracy theories while Zolak seldom interjects to the afternoon shows.. all are shadows of what they once were... very seldom informing, but always inflaming..

This segment may take the prize...

Tony Masserotti on Kyle Van Noy: “Oh, God. Last year he SUCKED. Please! And the year before he sucked even worse. It’s Two Degrees of Suck.”

Mike Felger on Kyle Van Noy: “I don’t like him. … To me, it’s personal. I’ve never met him, but every time he opens his mouth I’m like ‘You are a tool!’ You are an ASS. Every time I hear him talk I’m like ‘Where did that attitude come from? You SUCK. And if it wasn’t for this team you’d be covering punts in Detroit. You SUCK! Where do you get that attitude from?'”

I haven't listened to those bozos all week. Glad I haven't missed much

Caring about what they say isn't worth the wear and tear your keyboard endured typing all this out. Not a dig at you, just a general philosophy.

KVN responds with class and a challenge.

Van Noy responded to the comments Thursday in the Patriots’ locker room. “Me, honestly, I don’t really care if anybody ever says I’m a bad player, because everyone’s entitled to their opinion,” Van Noy told NESN.com. “But once you come at my character, that’s what I got an issue with. Especially when I’ve never met you. Because it’s like, I know those two guys wouldn’t say that to my face because then they wouldn’t like what would be coming for them-type-of-deal.

“It’s just, people don’t like you and that’s OK. I’m OK with that, but since those guys are on a national, or more importantly in the Boston area, you would think they would want to be more appreciative of the guys that play football for the Patriots instead of being negative. I’m going to extend an invitation for them to come to my fundraiser coming up and see what I’m really about.” Van Noy and his wife Melissa are co-founders of the Van Noy Valor Foundation. The linebacker reiterated that he’s not bothered by criticism of his play. “That’s OK,” Van Noy said. “I don’t care. I’ve been dealing with that since I’ve been young. And that’s OK. I’ve learned to accept that. I’ve just got a problem with you coming at my character, especially when you’ve never talked to me. I feel like any of you guys have been able to come over, and I haven’t been rude or any of that. It was kind of disappointing.”

I haven't listened to Felger's show in 3 or so years... don't ever plan on ending the streak either

Its ear cancer, stop listening to it and stop giving them publicity, then they'll be fired and go away

They have nothing to talk about anymore because all our sports teams do is win.

Maybe if Van Noy said, "I act the way I do for ratings," Maz and Felger would understand him better.

Legitimately would not have known about this hawt taek if it hadn't been posted here. Not only do you guys listen to trolls on the radio that piss you off up there, but you make sure everyone else sees it, clicks on it, listens to it, and gives them further exposure. That's always made zero sense to me.

It's funny. Before defamegate I listened to them religiously but now I rarely tune in. I've probably haven't listened to any Boston sports media for more than ten or twenty minutes over the last year or so. Just got tired of their schtick. It's all the same clickbait fodder hawt take bs.

That's not a reason, that's just more evidence.

The reason is that there are 1000% more people involved in covering sports than the prior era, when there were a dozen local sports writers, two local radio sports reporters, and three local TV sports reporters. They are all chasing advertising revenue, which means trying to say things to get sports fans riled up, so they will post on social media and internet message boards to get them more attention.

I've never actually listened to sports talk radio, or talk radio in general. I've accidentally landed on a sports talk show every so often when trying to find music on the radio on car trips. Just a couple seconds of that sh it is enough to turn my stomach.

But then, I barely pay attention to the news anymore. It's all useless bullsh it, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't get it either. The most I'll do is tune in to NFL Radio on Sirius XM but I don't stay there for more than a couple of minutes. You can get everything you need about whatever team you follow online.

If you ever read some of the stuff Dave Egan wrote about Ted Williams or what Phil Pepe said about Roger Maris, is on the same par as what those two assholes said about KVN- maybe even worse. The difference with those guys is at least they provided their audience insight and value.

To your point, now there is just more of less.

We can all agree EEI and the Hub provide zero value to the sports enthusiast except an opportunity to get emotional about something. As long as you listen to those knuckleheads in that frame of mind, its ok.

Reiss - thoughtful takes
Kyed - generally quick, accurate reporting; funny when dealing with hawt-take morons
Howe - postgame stats for pressure, blocking, coverage
Miguel - for accurate cap and rules info

Lazar and couple others for tape breakdowns

That's about it for me. Outside of Patsfans, of course.

I like Kyed.

At this stage of my life, I try never to listen to ANYTHING that's negative or vitriolic. That includes talk radio, political ads, and, yes, the daily news. The only live TV I watch is NFL football. All my Patriots news starts from PatsFans and Mike Reiss.

I find that this strategy, though a little weird, seems to work for me. I'm smiling a lot more during each day.

You are just a tad older than me, it seems. The best times sports media ever gave me, in my entire life, was the Sunday Globe sports section in the 80's and early 90's. The stuff we get on an hourly basis now piled up all week and was shared in the huge columns of Gammons et al. I lived happily during the week with only news of scores, injuries, and exceptional games by an individual. Then happiness on Sunday morning.

Perhaps this is a sentimental lens on all that, but I think the impact that sports (played by others) on my life back then was better than it is now.
