Edit: NVM. Someone already posted it... Damn you @reamer! You foiled me again!

(Was going to put that reddit write up on Bentley)

I always thought of Van Noy as one of those players whose play depend a great deal in the guy to his left and right.

A bit like how Eugene Wilson had a few really good years when Rodney Harrison was there to free him up. I could see Van Noy having a big year if Hightower stays healthy and Bentley lives up to our hopes.

Can you elaborate what you mean that the RPO got into the LBs head ? I don't see anyone doing anything wrong or impulsive here and would like to understand what I am missing.
Sure.

Essentially Bentley is Watson's job to move. QB's do it w their eyes in some cases & using the RPO is just another way of moving a guy which is what Watson was trying to do on the first play in hitting his slant. Very next play is a run. Next play Watson is eyeing the MOF again. HT goes, that's on the OL to cover. Again his only concern is the MOF at this point.

They weren't bad plays just an example of how design effects the game.

Two plays in a row where our IDL were beat by reaches. 1 Shelton & 2 Butler. Davis blown off the ball in the 2nd clip. His run defense just didn't stand out.

Back to the reach blocks though. If you're going to beat this block you have to explode & get skinny. Just not in Sheltons game who also didn't impress on Sunday.

Roberts needs to play through blocks better. He gets completely washed out by the linemen.

Gonna give them at least 3 games of tape before I start reacting to that. Could have been just bad reps. Lets see if it continues..

I got a little concerned when he went forward with the ball as he laid it on the 3 inch line.
Same. The angle was crap on TV, but I thought for sure he put the ball down on the goalline.

Found this on the Patriots reddit. A lot of effort went into it, so I figured I'd share the link.

He has a bad habit of not waiting for the play to come to him.

I noticed this Burkhead/White rotation which happened a few times in the game. My hope is that Michel can get up to speed and to the point where he can step in and do this- Michel has the potential to be such a dangerous weapon.

I don't think he'll have a problem with it when he's healthy. They did some pretty creative stuff with him at Georgia as well.

a few notes from my late re-watch:

Lawrence Guy was MVP of the game for me. Should be mentioned/shown more in this thread. Shelton didn't have his best premiere but showed at times he will be a big asset to this team (f.e. his monster run stop while first eating then shedding double block -> Q2-2:48.1&10). Very happy to have him. Brown missed a lot of tackles by an inch but showed good agility and strength on the line. Butler was used as DT on some non 3rd downs expanding his role like preseason indicated but he has a long way to go in run/power game. Looking forward to see how they do on a different game plan that focuses more on run stopping.

Cannon was/is not himself. Biggest liability @OL. Looked like he played through inj.

Hightower was not himself off or on LOS. Something to monitor in next games. Top 2 LBs at the moment when playing 2 DEs and both LBs off LOS are KVN and Bentley.

Grigsby made a nice play on Watson lateral. Nice situational piece since he is a core STer. Didn't play well in ST though..

Despite Hightower not close to his best and Roberts still up&down this is still a solid LB unit that offers plenty of versatility and rotation to keep them fresh.

Flowers had a very good game after missing big part of TC. Clayborn showed glimpses of his disruptive pass-rushing on very limited number of snaps and also showed good lateral quickness/speed. Looking forward to see him on a different game plan.

One thing i also liked from game plan is that they were able to put out tape on Develin as legitimate target. After they left him uncovered initially HOU adjusted after and other teams will now have to account him at least partially..

btw - Besides INT Brady made a few more uncharacteristically poor (behind) throws when he had good protection. Nothing to “monitor“ though im sure..
