I've got to admit that Danny Nyetling is a good one! (@Tony2046 will weep. ) But if "Thanksdad" is supposed to be Larry Izzo, you're wrong on that one.

They've had bad luck with injuries to wide receivers and Wynn, and Edelman's suspension is a big blow, but otherwise the roster's in pretty good shape. I just hope that we don't have to watch Brian Hoyer take a meaningful snap.

I haven't been able to find any information from any source documenting an immediate familial relationship. I'd think that, if they were related, it would be repeated in every media mention as if it was part of his name, as in, "Ryan Izzo, son/nephew of former Patriot Larry Izzo..."

I looked it up when Izzo was drafted and it turns out , IIRC, that there are somewhere around 35,000 people in the world with the surname "Izzo", something like 7,000 in the U.S. Chances are that Ryan and Larry are distantly related, sure. But Ryan's signing by the Pats was far from nepotism.
You guys are right: I haven't been able to find anything that shows a relationship between Ryan & Larry. I could've sworn that I heard something during the draft process. If I did, then they were wrong; if I didn't, then I am wrong.
Thanks for the clarification; Thanksdad Izzo is now officially retired.

We have 2 open spots, after Izzo is put on IR). Looking at the 51, who is most vulnerable? My list includes Davis and Jackson.

I would also include JMac, especially at his cap hit, though I suspect that Bill prefers to keep him as CB insurance in case Rowe & the others aren't up to the task of CB2.

McCourty would have salary guaranteed if he is one the Game One roster. I think that if he we going to be cut for cap reasons, he would already be gone. I like having an experienced corner like McCourty as our #4 safety. I would cut Jackson or Crossen before McCourty,

Agree 100%. Hes a fantastic security policy.

He can play CB, FS and SS for periods of time.

As a starter he'd be exposed.

On paper you are right.

I don't know how "straight forward" it is to just cut exactly at the moment as is necessary. Maybe they cut him to have additional spots for potential waiver claims. I know that timing wise they should be able to do it anyway (first end in the cut as a transaction and then immediately after that the claim..) but I guess as with most bureaucracies there are some details or inefficiencies.

Long story short. It would be the most shocking preseason move this year if the Bolden cut was anything but temporary.
So it turns out there was a reason.
They are trying out 2 WRs it the temporary WR4 opening. One will likely get cut by Friday (and moved to ps if they show anything) so bolden can be activated to play st vs Houston.

Richards several rounds ahead of where he was rated?

Rated by who?

You are aware that none of the mock stuff that the draft talking heads release has any significance whatsoever for the draft board of individual teams, right?

ATL thoughts on Richards (from Reiss):
Patriots assistants answer the question: Why get into coaching?

What are the Falcons saying about their acquisition of former Patriots safety Jordan Richards, whom they acquired for a conditional 2020 seventh-round pick?

  • GM Thomas Dimitroff: "We've been really honed in on that No. 2 safety spot through the whole offseason and into camps. We just felt that Jordan was a guy that fit in well for us. He's a tough dude that can step up in there and be a strong safety-type for us. He's a smart guy who has good versatility to us. He is a very urgent type of football player as well. We obviously have a good working relationship with New England, and it was right and fairly easy navigation through that trade. We're happy to have him here."

  • Head coach Dan Quinn: "I think he'll have a big role on [special] teams, too, knowing that's been part of what he's done in his past. We actually worked him out when he was coming out from Stanford. We've known about him, followed him, and now we're excited to have him on board.''

Well you have bozos here who want "players" who have done even less than Richards like Paxton Lynch. Everyone thinks that the failures of one team are just diamonds in the rough that can be fixed.

Rumor has it that they want to activate another OL.
