And apparently the presumed starter at LB in SF now is Dekoda Watson, which is a sad example of how there’s still some of that 0-9 talent in place despite Garoppolo covering it up in the last 5 weeks.

(Watson has 7 starts in 9 seasons, most recently in 2014. He spent some time with the Pats in 2015.)
I remember him now.

Fatty Patricia and Lions looking for DT I would part ways with Malcom Brown for either vet Golden Tate or most preferably young up and coming Kenny Golladay.

Saw this & was shocked. 2nd Rd pick from last year? Definitely something going on behind the scenes.

His hype was always too much but he had plenty of talent. Esp for a team that has np taking an athlete over player in some cases.

Perhaps it should be noted that Melifonwu's guaranteed 2018 salary is a whopping $670k. His total cap cost for the 3 years remaining on his rookie contract (2018-2020) is a huge $2.5M.

Measured 6040/224 at the 2017 Combine, and put up outstanding testing numbers:
... 4.40/40, 1.51/10yd ... 17 reps ... 44" vert/140" long jump ... 4.30 ss/7.07 3-cone

Yahooo! Buuuuut ...

He played all of 34 D-snaps and 42 ST snaps as a rookie, recording nothing but 6 tackles on the score sheet - in the 5 games that he wasn't on IR (IR-return for a knee injury; played five games; went back to IR with a hip injury).

So, it costs $670k for the Pats to stash him until spring when he can be part of the2019 safety competition. Or WR. Or whatever.

Love Obi. Thought he was a bit of a project, but I was high on his ability to be a chess piece. He can cover big guys. Oakland did him no favors leaving him on an island against Cooks last year. He's a TE cover safety who can flex out to press oversized receivers, but he's not a cerebral general of the defense type. He could cover RBs, too. Incredibly intriguing talent. I wanted him last year, even though I'm aware of his flaws -- the potential is fascinating.

Lol idk man idk.

What are thinking asking a rookie, as you said & I agree 100%, a project. To cover Cooks?

Np taking a flyer here. Big project but do the right & bring him along slowly & you might have something.

Ugly looking injury to Tyrod Taylor in tonight's exhibition game. He went back, though, so maybe the look was deceiving. Either that, or his endorphins are working overtime.

I know it's preseason but how in the world did this game get put on national TV?

Dude is a legit 6'6/280. Stutter/Fake inside w club/rip & some serious bend.
