Random note.. I said it before the draft and unfortunately got some proof when I watched the Steelers game. James Washington looks great. Obviously no idea if he would function as well in our offense but boy does he look like he belongs (so far).

Pats worked him out so he was obviously on their radar. They went with Dawson at that point and understandably so. They were obviously not comfortable to go with WR higher since they had other “needs“ and by now people are starting to understand the Bentley pick as well. And by next year they will probably like trading into 2019 as well.

They likely preferred slot WR/PR after losing Danny and with Jules on last legs and went quickly for Berrios after a small WR spree in 6th round (most thought he could possibly fall out of the Draft so Pats were pretty decisive there). It was a very nice WR draft with no evident superstars at the top but very nice prospects all the way to the bottom . and with MM gone i sure wouldn't mind another WR talent in his capacity . but with the history of Pats WR drafting in high/mid rounds they might be better off like this. I loved the Berrios pick so let's be patient how it turns out.. (remembering Jules, White etc etc)

If neither Berrios or McCarron work out, everyone can blame it on me for uttering Dante Pettis' name out loud. Just the one time, too, d%#*!@t!

He was easily a top 3 rr in this class. Him, Miller, Gallup would have been perfect here.

Kinda off topic but I'm someone that believes the "Pats system is so hard to learn" is a bit played out. The idea that no one else runs similar or variations of it is laughable.

I get we look for certain things. That's more than clear but finding a good player in Rd 2-3 just isn't that hard.

If you listen to WRs that spent time here you get the feeling that it is not played out at all. I dont think the general issue is the system itself but the perfection and attention to detail that Brady and Josh expect on (option) routes.

How long was Hawkins here? A day? The pats ask a lot out of their wideouts but in his case he didn’t want to put in the work and bailed.

I gave Hawkins too much credit. He retired before training camp began.

It doesn't make his opinion less valid. He still spend part of the offseason trying to learn the playbook and has extensive experience from being with other teams. So his voice is certainly infinitely more relevant than anyone speculating in here about "how difficult the system" is.

Maybe I didn't communicate it properly. As I've said in other threads I believe it has a lot more to do w timing, trust & chemistry w Brady more than anything else.

The concepts are the same in terms of other systems. It's the communication that is different.

Pro & college teams run the same or very close variations to it.

Again it's a narrative that people hear & repeat w/out actually understanding what their talking about. Honestly you would think it's the hardest thing in the league to learn.

All you have to do is look at our current corp, some have been here for a short while & will absolutely play/contribute this year.

They certainly don't have the same level of understanding as long time vets but nonetheless they'll have to make it work.

I swear some of these people in charge couldn't plan a fuc kin picnic. We give way too much credit to some of these guys, players included. It's not easy by any means but holy sh it it's not this hard. Spending decades building a legitimate team. Years trying to figure out what's a catch or tackle. This is literally all these people do but continue to fail & make things so much harder than it needs to be.

Miller was the guy who really stood out to me. I was such a big fan.

I dont understand how the NFLPA is not making noise here. I mean if a rule change creates so much confusion among the players they represent shouldn't they raise their voice at some point?

Loved him, #3WR.

Wow.

That is the Dictionary Definition of a T-E-X-T-B-O-O-K tackle, including the Most Important aspect for which the zebras should be looking: WRAPPING UP the Runner.

Teams who had No business winning/losing games will be winning/losing games this season because of this "point of emphasis/interpretation/custerfluck."

Yeah I agree. I've watched four other team's preseason games and have seen field goals turn into TDs and 4th downs turn into 1st downs. It's a shytty rule.
