Britt has been a walking injury throughout his entire career.

Britt had a tough time with injuries his first five seasons in the league with the Titans. He spent 13 games on IR in his 3rd season (knee), and missed 10 other games to various injuries over the course of his 2nd, 4th and 5th years.

However, he didn't miss a game to injury during his subsequent three seasons with the Rams (2014-2016) - nothing until he missed weeks 5-7 last year with the Browns (knee).

Yeah but one of them is a TE, two of them have pretty extensive injury histories, and one missed a good chunk of time last season. The team will need them to remain healthy because everything else behind them in the WR corps is meh at best.
Injury concern is my biggest worry way more than the 4 game suspension.

As to the TE do you think teams with guys like AB and Julio are concerned they don't have a Gronk type at TE?

I'm writing them off. Any 1/2 decent CB can shut them down.

I am bullish on Hollister, though. Ultimately I think he can be a 60-80 catch player here.

I am surprised you’re usually a positive poster. It’s surprising but i was reading a scouting report on Walter football on dorsett and it says superb route runner. If that was the case the guy would be getting open with his speed. He’s the big wildcard here. I was a britt fan ever since he came out college but i wonder if he can ever stay healthy and do something on the field.

Yep. In 9 seasons in the NFL, he's missed time due to injury in 6 of them. He's injury-prone.

I don't understand the relevance of the question. The discussion is about the WR corps and Gronk is a TE. For that matter, he's also been injury-prone throughout his entire career. Same with Edelman (who is also coming off of a season-ending injury).

He cashed in on his 1000 yard season with the rams. That was only a couple of years ago. The guy must have a bad hamstring that he can’t get on the damn field.

Chicken littling is unlike you.

I have been looking at FA charts for 2019 and 2020 and there really are no interesting targets that you could realistically trade for. A classic underperformer like Kevin White would not solve anything immediately. Interesting players like Devante Parker are unfortunately with a team that would never trade him at reasonable value to us. And the ones that would be difference makers like Amari Cooper are unlikely to even be available despite a horrific season last year.

No idea..

Looking around for WR game changers at this point in time is a bit steep . esp. since BB so rarely goes for one at any point in time. But there are some interesting options around if need may be.

La Fell is still out there and he showed he can produce in this system (and CIN as well).

Id guess Dallas would listen to trade proposal for Beasley (with Austin, Gallup and other youngsters stepping up) . and shouldn't be too steep. He would have 2.4M cap hit for Pats in 2018 and nothing gtd next yr.

One guy that had a strong first outing building on a solid end of 2017 is Higgins from CLE. Big outside receiver who is becoming quite a backshoulder master. If they sign Bryant (makes no sense to me but they are the Browns) and stick with Callaway they might be willing to listen. They have Njoku and Landry as top targets and bunch of receiving RBs.

There will be others who could be in play from teams who are deep at position . but also in case of bubble guys Pats will have to trade for them since they are again at the bottom of the waiver wire.

They traded for Dorsett last year so Id guess they are confident to handle WR need at any point in time..

I know! You and I are usually opposites

Its not an awful group but there is no question Britt, Decker, Dorsett and Patterson are not receivers who create a lot of separation in MtM coverage.

I can see a trade coming but im not sure for who.
Laquan Treadwell?

I think I'm being realistic.

I just don't think they are that great and they dont need them to be.

Assuming health the receptions on offense in 2018 will come from Jules, Gronk, Hogs, Hollister, White and Burkhead.

Jules- 70 catches
Gronk- 70 catches
Hogs- 60
White- 60
Hollister- 50
Burkhead- 40

Thats 350 right there. The remaining will go to Patterson, Sony and others.

There is only so many All pro talents to go around ours it at TE. If you don't think this is relevant to the WR debate then I don't know what to say.

Before I dissect this post any further, where did I ask for All-Pro talent at WR?

I'm with you. The question (for me, anyway) is what happens if Edelman or Gronk go down. The depth is just paper thin and if we're expecting retreads like Decker to pick up the slack...well, I just don't see that happening.

Exactly. When Gronk went down in 2016 TB12 had Jules, Marty, Danny, Mitchell, Hogs and White to pick up the slack.

When Jules went down in 2015 the passing offense went to crap because all they had was Gronk and DA.

I think they have better depth than 2015 but its not as good as 2016.

Dorsett has been a bust and this will have to be his prove it year. I'm not expecting it, though. I actually have higher hopes for Patterson than I do Dorsett. Britt has been a walking injury throughout his entire career. Edelman will be fine, but he won't be there in the first four weeks.

I find that hard to believe coming from you Kontra: Patterson haven't really been a good Receiver in this league. And those one handed catches with guys all draped over him in practice I fear wont translate in the regular season. That said I think Cleveland - Jacksonville -and yes the Jets have some WR's we could trade for. I wouldn't be surprised if a move is made this weekend to sure of that weak spot.
