So the brother of the house owner, who was in the state at the time, who then caused a flight delay and ran off of the plane is wanted for questioning but is no longer in the state....

I don't like his chances of getting very far.

I wasn’t trying to imply anything about racism in my previous post. It’s just a sad story to me and I was surprised to see the jokes.

The anthem kneelers will ignore yet another dead body in their midst if it doesn't fit their criteria.

Where the hell has your Cro-Magnon azz been? Jackson & Co have been waiting on you while flinging poop at everyone else.

It should surprise no one that Russini hasn't done her homework. William Jenkins is in custody on a parole violation in upstate NY and has been since before the body was discovered.

Janoris Jenkins' brother is a person of interest after body found in NFL player's home

He was on parole but they arrested him for an outstanding warrant according to that article.

On Tuesday, police officers in Ontario County responded to a call around 1:30 a.m. about a "suspicious condition" near a convenience store, Ritts said.

While responding, police discovered Williams Jenkins, who they discovered had an outstanding warrant and arrested him, he said.

Either way if that's the case then you're right that the reports he was in Florida were wrong.

An untimely death is always a sad event and of course the family and friends of the deceased are deserving of our sympathy. If my attempt to mock the way a story of this type quickly jumps the shark was in any way misconstrued as dismissing the seriousness of a lost life I apologize.

I too feel guilty about the Ray Lewis barb.
I'm sure justice will be served and I hope it brings some solace and peace to the victims family.
Here's hoping if Janoris had Any knowledge or part in this he faces proper consequence.
However the way the victim was left I highly doubt Janoris knew anything and highly doubt his brother would snitch either way.

Patjew is one of my favorite people I've never met, so I say this in love.

But I wish people would ponder intent before getting offended/hurt or whatever.

Unless you think the person's intent when telling a morbid joke in a thread like this is to directly harm the family then I have a hard time understanding the motivations behind calling out that behavior.

I tell dark af jokes because laughing at the bad stuff is the best way for it to not seem so bad. In this case the specter of mortality that awaits us all.

This is why I avoid the sometimes (imo) questionable OT threads that pop up every time some celebrity dies because I'm not entirely convinced that the point of those threads is the actual sharing of grief for coping purposes but rather something else.

I dunno, when I die make lots of jokes my dudes.

I love you too!

I hear what you’re saying and totally agree... I can be super crass and non-PC. I joke about terrible things that have happened to me all the time because... I don’t know. It’s a coping mechanism I guess. Last weekend I had a good chat about when it’s OK to joke about... something really bad.

What I said was “So many jokes about a dead 25 year old.” Now I can completely see how that came across as judgey and I hate the Patjew that posted it. But I really meant it in a straightforward way, like “wow, lots-o-jokes about this dude’s death. That’s surprising.” I don’t think anyone joked about it because they’re racist or callous; It’s just what some of us do. But I was surprised at how many of us happened to do it this time.

Anyway to quote Ringo, peace and love, peace and love.

Well, if it helps, I’m not sorry at all that I made my jokes. Those were slam dunks. Hard to ignore fruit hanging that low.

Humor is my light against the dark as well, it is also my nature to mock the reactionary way events are treated/reported in today's society. However I do feel compelled to proffer an apology/explanation out of respect when someone as reasoned and considered as Patjew may have taken offense at or misconstrued anything I have posted. As you have exhibited yourself on occasion as real men we are comfortable enough with the skin we are in to offer an apology/explanation when offense might have been taken where none was intended without feeling diminished. Would that more people were as comfortable with who they are, the planet would be better for it.

I've been searching the net for a statement from Colin Keapernick about justice for this most recent victim.

I was unaware he had been named as person of interest

You're right, you weren't. I was, and while I stand by my belief that there's an element of racism and bigotry around here, in retrospect I was wrong to suggest it was present in this thread. I meant it earlier when I wrote that I wasn't accusing anyone specifically who contributed to this thread. I also have to admit that I'd be lying if I said I've never been guilty of attempts at dark, and sometimes a little tasteless, humor, because I have. In fact, truth be told, my friends would likely say that I've willingly jumped in head first when opportunities to do so have arisen. Anyway, I've already gone on too long so I'll end with this: to anyone I offended, despite the fact that it wasn't intended, I apologize.

My friend, that was very thoughtful and far too complimentary! Just to be clear, you didn’t offend me.

My friend, with the coolest real name on the board, that was the post of a mensch! Wow, kind of blown away by your honesty and candor.

Thanks, PJ, but it was a momentary lapse and I promise it won't happen again. As long as I'm being temporarily honest and candid, here's another admission: I had to look up "mensch... "

It’s a compliment that sounds like an insult!

As in meaning the opposite of putz.
I'm not Jewish but mensch, putz, schmuck, tchotchke, bissel, tuches, chutzpah, kvetch, nosh, schlep, meshuggeneh, schmooze and countless others are such everyday words to me it always comes as a surprise to me when I use them and get a blank look, lol.
