Squeaky and the douche gonna have a field day with this if we have an early season loss. “Think this happens if Brady was at OTA’s? I don’t, Mike, I really don’t!”

Maybe it’s about time Tom and Bill go on Jerry Springer and figure this thing out.

4 game starts:
2017: 2-2
2016: 3-1
2015: 4-0
2014: 2-2
2013: 4-0
2012: 2-2
2011: 3-1
2010: 3-1

2004 and 2007 are the only two SB seasons where the Patriots started 4-0. They've started with at least one loss in their first 4 games in the other 6 SB appearances. Felger and Mazz can munch on a whole bag.

OTAs now won't shorten (unless he gets a freak injury like Henry), strengthen or affect his career. Missing all the voluntary crap might increase, strengthen his marriage and life going forward. He spends enough time on the field. Especially when they routinely make AFCCGs and a good chunk of SBs.

Brady is still playing AND is looking to the future.

Well, ok then. You guys have stated your position. As a fan, I can’t really prioritize the state of the players’ marriages over working with the team, but more power to you if you can.

It does seem a bit odd, since he’s had like 4 months since the last Patriots activity...seems like plenty of time to hang out with the wife..go to dinner, hit the beach, see a show...

I’m sorry, it’s frickin’ hilarious. If Garoppolo is in camp, Brady is there. But now he’s got to spend more time with the family and the chorus here is he spends enough time on the field. The mind reels.

Not only marriage but his future endeavors. He's been strengthening both over the (very) short off season. His vacations with the family, the gold gala suit with Giselle. Looking at other video ops, his trip to Qatar.

I think its crazy his friend Jimmy has anything to do with it. Jimmy clarified their relationship over the off season. His gratitude, respect and admiration. These are not the words of a man supposedly shut out of a private trainers office. As if the trip to the Derby last year should not have been enough.

It's crazy to think someone nearing retirement wouldn't think of their future.

Putting on the prognosticator hat, here are some headlines I see in the media.
Brady not selected as team captain this year. First time in ..... (Volin has this already drafted), I think Gronk will also be added to the story, unless someone also writes one bringing his motorcross and shark rapplings.
After first defeat of the season to the Texans, "Should Brady have been at OTAs?", Get down to 0-2 to start the season and the sky will come down.

well we can speculate that he's doing it for family, for his training preference for a passive aggressive stance against the coach , ,because Garappolo isn't there anymore or a combo of any of those. He hasn't commented on it so I guess we can all have at it with speculations. On the marriage thing though, a broken home life can mean lousy performance at work. I don't care if it's football or any job you want to talk about. As a fan or a coach or an owner it's a consideration that needs to be taken into account. And who knows, whatever he's doing this for very well may have been communicated to the team. I suspect it has.

He can think all he wants. His future apart from the Patriots shouldn’t intrude on his time with the team.

I suspect it hasn’t.

I can think of a dozen teams with solid rosters, functional coaches and mediocre QBs who with TB12 instantaneously become SB contenders.

You know who they are.

I think a 41 year old Brady’s market is limited to be honest. A rebuilding team or team on the rise would have no interest. I think the team would have to either be a win-now team with the window closing (like Denver) or an established team looking to sell more tickets and merchandise or get their name in the papers. (Like the Jets)

And there is no way they’d want to trade with either of them for obvious reasons.

My concerns regarding Brady are extremely low and we'll likely look back at this time as "what were we worried about" but they still include:

Does not participating in OTA's impact the "we're all in it together/no one is bigger than the team" mindset the Pats have seemingly worked off of for the past 18 years? Do they get less buy when they get tough going forward?

With several new skill position players on board is getting on the same page a factor? And if yes, how much of one (based on the team picking up w/o a beat after his bogus 4 game suspension I assume it would be minimal)

How many more years will he play? To me, trading Jimmy G changed Brady's obligation from he can leave anytime he wants to owing the team at least 2 more years. Maybe not fair with all he has accomplished but if he is was longer serious about playing until his mid 40's the team may have re-thought their approach to trading or extending Garoppolo. (as far as I know his goal is still mid 40's - just seems like this is much more up in the air than previously)

All that said, Brady and the team have played more games over the past 7 years than any team in NFL history. Their off-season has therefore been shorter and wanting additional time to de-compress or spend more time with the family is certainly understandable. If he had come out and stated "I remain fully committed to playing until my mid 40's. To be able to do that to the best of my ability, I along with the team have decided that limiting my off season voluntary workouts to a minimum will increase my probability of success. I realize this is a departure from my past history and I want everyone to know that I remain fully committed to doing everything I can to prepare myself and help the team to continued success......"

Of course, Brady and the team are not obligated to tell us what they are thinking. Maybe the articles about a rift are b.s. or extremely exaggerated? The media loves controversy whether real or imagined and I am just tired of that being the focus of 90% of the news. Would love to be hearing more about the new players, schemes and what the team will look like.

I know, poor us Patriot fans with what we have had to endure these last 18 years, But the never ending media nonsense and uncertainly starts chipping away at the enjoyment a little.

Perhaps. Just saying Tom makes a dozen teams a contender

There is not one.

Unless all those stories about him and his circle of trust are just the same ******** that the team and him are selling as those stories about the importance of OTAs ended up being.

His only option is playing for the Pats if he wants a realistic shot at titles.

This post is ludicrous on so many levels not the least of which is the fact TB12 instantly makes every team a serious contender.

I don't even know where to begin with how ridiculous your statement is.

Brady has been in a EP system his entire career. His pickyness about who to trust and who not to trust is legendary. The assumption that you can just put him with a totally unknown receiving crew into a different system and think he will be even close to a MVP level player is just blind homerism.

Similarly assuming you can just install EP in any other team to leverage Brady's strengths as much as BB/Josh just shows how little you understand about its complexity.

Just for pragmatic reasons alone there is no other options for Brady than the Pats. Especially once the Texans were off the table when they got Watson.

So the Titans, JAX, Pitt, MN, Rams, HOU arent contenders with Tom?

The fact that you think TB couldn't learn a new system well enough in 1 year to compete is insulting to TB. And if you don't think most teams out there wouldn't be willing to switch to the EP system for a chance at TB and bring in the needed personnel you would be crazy.

Tom is the GOAT but also a metrosexual weirdo with an unnatural loyalty to a snake oil salesmen.
So does Brady invites him, or does he just pack his bag whenever Brady is going somewhere with the expectation that he also going? I am pissed but not sure who to direct it towards.
