"It sounds like you've got at least two or three people in there already."

i can hear Laurel, but when I focus I can easily find Yanny. Laurel definitely dominates but I can hear both.

While the audio itself might be meaningless, the fact that it has people looking at the scientific reasoning behind WHY people here two different words could encourage some of those people to invest time into learning about audio related sciences, which could ultimately result in future breakthroughs or technology.

Saying "Who cares" and saying it has no "Relevance" to anything reeks of the same sort of jargon people use when they talk about defunding nasa. "Who cares about mars!" "Who cares about the moon!" Technology developed by nasa for use in space has resulted in huge gains for people here on earth.

With relation to football, If everyone in indy hears Yanny, The patriots could create some 3rd down music where most of the crowd heres "Lets go Patriots!!!" and the colt players all hear "Ya'll goat ****ers suck"
I think you’re stretching here. Fine if it results in scientific research and breakthroughs

But I was referring to Americans fanatical reaction to something meaningless on a social level. We have little participation in important things like getting involved in the community or voting. Yet everyone jumps to discuss laurel and Yanny.

I come home to watch the Warriors-Rockets game and the pregame show was playing this clip. I'm thinking "WTF is this?" Then I see it on here and then to find out it's all over the internet.

I just don't get how someone can post something so stupid on Reddit and it goes viral. The media is getting even dumber asking Paul Ryan what he thinks. There's more important things they need to ask than what he thinks he hears. This is a prime example of why one part of me absolutely hates the internet or "social media".

And it's clearly Laurel.
Amen my brother! We all agree!

This is a test....

Because the people we have to vote for suck giant cowpies, and the community is being destroyed by the people we have to vote for.

Everyone can come together to see if a certain villian killed them, or which word you hear. its universal. I hear this, or I hear that. no opinions, just fact. No big corporation paying to create false ads to sway one side or the other. just plain simple "hey were genetically different and thats okay"

I heard about this earlier today and here on patsfans s the first place I actually heard the audio. I am 100% yanni. I tried to hear Laurel but couldn't.

It's an obvious practical joke by the people who "claim" to hear "laurel." I've played it for two others who said how the hell can you get "laurel" out of "yanny"? The words are so different.

IO hear yammy, not yanni..don't know how laurel is possible

I heard Laurel 100%, played it for My GF and mother, they heard Yanny...

All I hear is "yanny, yanny, yanny." I am convinced that people who hear "laurel" are tone-deaf illegal immigrants working menial blue-collar jobs ... or light beer-swilling millennials with smartphone-calloused thumbs. In other words, if you hear "laurel": GTF out.

all I know is...I see that little pr!ck Yanni on the street, I'll drop him where I see him...
What did he ever do to you? Steal Linda Evans from you or something? Maybe you should finally just let it go -- she's 75 (and this photo was taken SIX years ago).

c'mon... you'd still smash.

I don't think it's entirely meaningless. Stuff like this is interesting as an example how people have flawed perceptions of reality and we can't always trust our own senses.
This video on the McGurk effect is another example of this.
It will blow your mind.
