Im not sure Mayock knows/cares that Pats got Croston last yr and Thuney, Karras the year before, extended Andrews..

I could possibly understand one OL pick in 1st - G+T or G+C . but two #1 OL picks in this class borders on senility..

I've mentioned the possibility of a tackle guard draft several times recently. I think it's far more likely than EDGE linebacker. Mason will command a fortune in FA next year. Andrews is a good not great young player on a very team friendly deal. Croston and Karras are fine depth, but I would prefer that we never have to see them in actual games.

The same was said about Cannon, Waddle, Fleming, Kline etc etc. I for one didn't/wouldn't mind seeing Croston, Karras in actual games. Id be OK with more OLs since it is Dantes last year(s) but not at both #1s..

Totally agree. Mayock's prediction for the Pats 2nd 1st round pick is a nonsense IMO.

I don’t agree. Daniels is perfect for this OL. In terms of his get off at the snap, he’s arguably the most athletic OL I’ve seen and he gets to the 2nd level like a RB. If you were to design a zone blocking iOL, Daniels would be what you end up with. His one weakness is that he’s susceptible to the bull rush but aside from that, in our system there’s little to fault him. I didn’t think of interior OL as a need and hadn’t studied centres up to now so was surprised by the pick. Afterwards though, I did some work on him, and now I’d be very happy with the pick. He has the potential to be a top 5 center in the NFL and an excellent Mason replacement if that’s what is needed (I hope not).

The Giants keep saying they are committed to Eli but I think it would be a massive mistake not to take a QB with this opportunity. Darnold is arguably the top QB in the draft so they have to take him.

3. NYJ- QB- Baker Mayfield- Oklahoma
All the momentum seems to be Baker to the Jets

The Pats need to add speed and athleticism to their defence and Evans is an excellent fit. Evans is a playmaker that would allow us to use Hightower outside more to rush the passer.

I know I'm in the minority but I still think Williams is the best LT in this draft. He had a disappointing 2017 with injury and doesn't have the ideal length for an OT, but his 2016 tape was elite and he has excellent athleticism. I think his quick feet more than make up for his lack of length at LT.

After a small trade back we add more speed and playmaking to the defence. Harrison is an excellent run defender at safety and is a matchup weapon against TE's in the passing game.

Green has prototypical size and athleticism for a Pats DE. He hasn't quite put it all together yet but he has huge upside as a base DE that can move inside on passing downs.

3(99). QB- Luke Falk- Washington State
Falk is smart, accurate and poised inside the pocket. I don't think he has huge upside but he seems like a good developmental piece at QB.

4(106). LB- Genard Avery- Memphis
Double dipping at LB, Avery would immediately contribute on special teams and add depth at LBer. I think he can develop into a playmaker in the middle next to Evans, allowing us to use Hightower and Van Noy outside permanently.

5(149)- CB- DJ Reed- Kansas State
Reed is a slot CB and immediate contributor on special teams. He lacks ideal size and bulk but he plays much bigger and is very active in the run game.

6(198). RB- Chase Edmonds- Fordham
With Dion Lewis gone Edmonds has a chance to compete for a spot on the bottom of the roster. I really like Edmonds game and given a chance to develop I think he could be a solid NFL RB.

6(210).DB- Jeremy Reaves- South Alabama
A tough and physical special teamer, Reaves can play all over the secondary and add some attitude. He may not have ideal size or testing numbers but he plays tough, hits hard and has experience at CB and S.

7(219). DT- Du'Vonta Lampkin- Oklahoma
This is just a lottery ticket. Lampkin has the size and strength to make plays in the middle but he needs technique work and has some character and immaturity concerns. If he works out you get a steal, if he doesn’t you get a camp body on the DL.

I’m almost never a fan of trading up because I think the draft completely warps player value. The only exception to this is if you think you can get a franchise QB. There is one guy in this draft I think has the potential to be a franchise QB and I think would be a great fit for the Pats and that is Josh Rosen. He has fantastic mechanics, a really solid arm and is the most cerebral QB in the draft. I think given time under Brady to learn and pairing him with BB and Josh McDaniels to challenge him intellectually he can thrive. Rosen is the one guy I would make the move up for if he fell enough.

I’ve come around to being happy with taking a future backup with upside rather than going all in for a starter. Falk and Lauletta fit that for me just fine.

What I would be on board with is trading up for the pass rusher of our choice and then trading back up is grab a Mason Rudolph
In the early second then work on the secondary.
A trade down for a 1st next season from say a team in some disarray like the Cardinals for one of our seconds and grab a third or 4 this year would also be a awesome trade.
